As a new member - this is first post - pacemaker was installed October 9, 2015. The reason for post is -- had an ablation on Febuary 5, 2019.  Since ablation I have been experiencing instances of assume term is pacing.  On Tuesday, May 5, 2019 had follow up with Doc.  He reset pulse rate from 60 to 75 and made other adjustments to pacemaker.  The pacing has continued.  Did not experience pacing until after the ablation.  Is this a normal occurrence?  Al...

First pacemaker

I am a little over 2 weeks out from having my first pacemaker for bradycardia. Not having pain so much as the strange feeling of having a foreign object in my body. How long does it take to get used to the new normal of feeling like a weight is bouncing around under your skin when you hit a bump in the road or the weird sensations when you move your arm?

Thanks

Low heart rate alert

Hi all,

I had my biventricular pacemaker fitted 6 weeks ago now for complete heart block & bradycardia. Healing has been going well apart from some pain in my shoulder. I wear an Apple Watch which has built in heart rate monitor this sent me 3 alerts throughout last night to tell me my heart rate had dropped below 40 & stayed like that for 10 minutes each time.

Is it normal for heart rate to drop low with the pacemaker fitted?

Thank You

Operating a Lawn Mower Just Weeks After BV ICD Implant Surgery

This is kind of a follow up to my earlier post on operating a lawn mower or weed whacker. I am over three weeks post surgery and my grass is growing fast. I want to cut it, but discharge instructions said no lifting anything over ten pounds for six weeks. Does anyone know if operating a lawn mower too early would be an issue? Not sure if pulling and pushing would be the same as lifting? Is the lifting a concern with the leads pulling out, or is it a concern with the incision opening up? Thank...

Still Don't Understand ECG

Hello all.  I did a search on Left axis deviation and still don't understand.  In elementary terms could someone please explain what  Left Axis Deviation means?  Yesterday, my cardio sent me to the heart hosp. ER where I had an ECG in the ER for a strange combo of symptoms and don't know how to interpret the ECG.   Am assuming that the Left Bundle Branch Block is the reason for my PM.  However, I don't know what LAD means.  My Ventricular Rate wa...

Newbie to this group

I've had my pacer for a couple years not and I'm quite attached to it. :)  I'm going to be redecorating my bedroom by myself and have decided to replace the flooring with a click and lock option. I know that I'll have to use some powertools to cut the flooring into the right lengths. I had an "oh no" moment when i thought, maybe using powertools will be a bad idea because of the vibration of the saw. Am I being over-cautious or is this something that I shou...

Newbie to the club

Hello everyone, I had my first pacmaker put in on Saturday April 27th for bradycardia. I get the staples out next week and was wondering if anyone here who puts in a lot of miles bicycling can let me know what to expect and when I might be able to resume.

pacing anniversary

I got my first pacer 25 years ago today! I'm on my 5th device, have coasted through with no major complications, and I feel great. If you are just starting out on this journey, don't let it get you down. Challenges life throws at us will only hold us back if we let it.

Monitors

Needing some help/suggestions. I received my Medtronic Azure pacemaker a week ago & feel better than I have in a long time. Recovery is going well, but frustrated with my monitor situation. Drs office said I could download an app & monitor remotely from my phone; great since I travel for work & pleasure. According to the Medtronic rep the monitor sent to me must stay at my bedside & my phone has to be 6ft away. Found out there is another monitor that uses the phone app, but no...

Medtronic care link application for android

I've had my pacemaker (Medtronic)  for only a short time and so technically am still in the heart remodeling/recovery phase (April).  I am trying to us the MCL app on my android phone.  I was wondering if anybody else is using MCL app and if so, are you able to get any useful information from it.  Thus far it is just dictionary items (model, implant date, etc. ) but no information on the pacemker operation and functioning.  The app has only been availabl...

Tourism

Hello.

I am currently on holiday in Rome, and want to tour the colosseum tomorrow. However after looking at the site today notice metal detectors that you have to walk through to get in. I do of course have my pacemaker card but I struggled to find any other ways into the colosseum without going through the detectors and wondered if anyone had been before. Cheers.

Pacemaker poking at the top

Hey everyone!

I had my pacemaker placed in for the first time in February of this year. I was holding my toddler today and for the first time ever he decided to push on my pacemaker scar. I of course had pain and it feels like it has agitated some nerves. Now I feel like the top of my pacemaker is poking up towards the skin more that it’s now more visible then before him doing this. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I suppose I should call my doctor tomorrow to get it...

Can one develop a second rhythm issue with a PM?

For the past week I have noticed a fluttering feeling and when I check hr with oxymeter, find pulse 97-100 bpm. Was woken 2x last night with an accelerated heart rate. My low pacer point should have been 55. I have had a PM for bradycardia since 2013.

is it possible to develop AF when one has a pacemaker? The episodes start and stop for no apparent reason. Does anyone have any such experience?

thanks!

HEART TRANSPLANT

This is my first post, although I've been a member for over a year and an avid reader of posts.  I have just got home last week from 3 months in hospital, including 10 weeks in the wonderful Royal Papworth hospital in Cambridge.  While there I had an urgent heart transplant. It was touch and go for a while after the operation, and I'm still getting my head around that, as well as my body still taking its time to settle down.  The meds I am now taking are mind blowing! Should I reconsider CRT? Please advise

I am scheduled for CRT in 15 days time.

But should I reconsider? Symptoms have improved.

I’m not experiencing flat-out tiredness. I’m managing lung congestion by reducing sodium, and doing breathing exercises. Lost about 10 lbs, i.e. fluids. Light indoor biking 8 mins daily, that in past triggered exhaustion, now ok. Also, I’m following a more balanced diet

ON THE OTHER HAND, We did painstaking evaluation duri...
