Hello all, new to the site. 27 years old with complete heart block as a result of a cardiac ablation done roughly 12 years ago as I was in high school. I've been without a pacemaker and have had a low heart rate (usually in the 40s at rest) pretty much ever since then. My current cardiologist is pointing me toward having a leadless pacemaker implanted (mostly as a backup, since I have not had any fainting episodes or other symptoms along those lines in the past 12 years). He told me that...

Hello everyone - I've been off the grid for awhile now but that seems to be changing for me. I have a dual St. Jude pacemaker. Has a 10 year plan they said. That was in 2010. Well seems that my heart ahs decided to stop working all togehter. Nothing. I have no natural beating of my heart anymore. I learned this a few weeks ago. I went into a "What in the heck" kind of thinking. It has really taken me by surprise. I have gone through the total denial thing, the now what do I do t...

I had my pacemaker implanted on March 8, 2019, so I am a bit new here. My settings are 60 - 130 for my SSS. My problem is that I have still been having pauses which is the whole reason I got the pacemaker. I went in for my 1 week check and they said that I had no pauses. I am wondering how this very accurate machine could not pick these pauses up. It is not a small amount of pauses either, about 10-20 per minute. They can happen at anytime and last as long as they want. The other problem...

Hi. Just wanted to give thanks to everybody here. Aside from the doctor, this is really the only place that has helped with advice and perspective throughout all of this.
Just a small background. I'm 29 years old and just had a single-chambered pacemaker implanted. It was implanted due to having bradycardia but my AV node was really just mis-firing and throwing the whole thing out of sorts. I was passed from doctor to doctor with each telling me mo...

I had a CRT-P installed a little over 2 weeks ago for pacemaker induced cardiomyopathy due to ventricle dyssyncrony. Other than some mild water retention in the abdomen, I have had no real symptoms. EF had dipped to around 40% (12/18 echo) with the dual lead PM I previouly had.
A couple of questions:
1) Is loss of water weight one of the signs that the therapy is most likely working? I ask as I’ve started to notice some positive changes with weight loss (3-4...

Hi I am 44 and have all tests on my heart and it's fine apart from Brady. It was picked up after a hysterectomy 4 years ago. No under active thyroid. I used to keep fit but lately if I exercise it takes days to recover. I wake with a dull ache in chest especially day after exercise, I get light headed on occasions, occasional palpitations, and I'm constantly shattered sleeping more. Will they still put a PM in with no other heart problems ? Feel like I'm going around the ben...

First pacemaker in 2012 and second pacemaker in 2017. This happened one time when at doctor. EKG shown no problem. Have not been able to lay flat on my back since 2012. Has anyone else experienced this problem?

My PM was placed on Jan. 15th , and exactly 2 months later I was playing and was chasing a flyball down. I somehow fell on my chest. It knocked the wind out of me and ever since (yesterday)I've had a pain in my chest that feels like the pain I had the day after my original implant when they had to re-operate to fix the slipped leads. Luckily, I am scheduled for my first follow up in 2 days.

I have posted before about receiving a Bundle of His pacing (HBP).It has been 3 1/2 years now and my LBBB is still corrected and the RVlead threshold has not increased and I have had no major problems.
At the time I got my PM there was little talk about HBP now there are articles almost everywhere and my EP doc was one of the few doing that technique.
Here is a link about developments in HBP from a EP doc who has been converted to a HBP enthusiast.https://www.medscape.com/viewarti...

Hi folks. Just a quick query. Had my PM since Feb 2017 for type 2 second degree heart block. All been good until recently when I've been having frequent episodes of dizziness and feeling faint and completely exhausted. Anyone else experienced this? It's starting to worry me if I'm honest but don't want to bother GP etc if this is just par for the course.

Hello All. So glad I came across this Club. I've been seeing a cardiololgist for over 5 years and my doctor has summized that I should have a Biventricular Pacemaker due to low ejection fraction, 30-35% which saw a 25% drop from just a year and a half ago. During that time I was exposed to a tremendous amount of stress which I feel may have been a contributing factor to this decline. I am 68 years old this past Janurary and I also am afflicted with CHF and a LBBB s...

I'm about to have a mammogram, my first since having my pacemaker fitted and am slightly concerned the pacemaker may be in the way. It's a year since I had it fitted and can still be a little uncomfortable if I press on it. I have read that the pacemaker can hide some of the breast tissue so am wondering if I should avoid this. It's not my first mammogram and I have found my previous ones very painful, whether it's because I am quite small or just how it is I...

Thank you to everyone who replied to my post. I appreciate your taking the time to do so. I will keep monitoring this with my NP and my oncologist that I see every 6 months, unless I need to go in-between. So far, mammograms have been ok, I just worry about further drooping of the area! But then, I tend to worry about a lot of things! If at some point I need to have the PM moved, I will deal with it and the fear of having the leads out even for a brief time. CHB...

Hello.
I am a 42 year old male with a dual chamber Medtronic pacemaker for heart block that was fitted 6 years ago. I have been told by my cardiologst that i may have to have my Pacemaker upgraded to an ICD in the near future. He explained that the procedure is dangerours and not something that they will do unless necessary due to the changing and removeal of the leads.
Can anyone shed any light on this or has anyone had any expereince of this being done?&n...

Are some Pacemakers better than others? My previous PM was a Medtronic VIVA XT Defib item that was replaced with a Medtronic Claria MRI CRT-D this past Nov 30. The Claria looks to be around 20% smaller than the VIVA XT. Two weeks prior, I took a pulmonary treadmill stress test - Performing it was a breeze. Today, I couldn't perform that chore. Either the new PM isn't as effective as the old, or the series of ills I suffered in late Dec/early Jan took their toll. (diverticu...

Hello All!
I have not been back here since about four or five weeks after surgery. I was so determined to 'bounce back' - and let's face it, the medical fraternity (is it still a 'fraternity') don't exactly counsel you on what you have been through they just process you on the assembly line and usher you out the door with a 'you'll feel better than ever'...
And, tbh i feel no different. I was not 'sick' before my first cynco...

Decided to google up my “pin type” sensations when I came across your site. I hate to say that I was “encouraged” to hear others had these same sensations but I feel better knowing that I am not just imagining these pin type pricks around my pacemaker. I have been bothered by the fact that I can have just a few per day to having many. The degree of the sharpness can vary as well.
Just had mine installed in January of 2019. My second checkup is in April...
