Pregnant!

Hey everyone, i am 24years old, and i have just found out that i am pregnant! I have been trying for a little while so i have had a chance to speak to the electrophysiologists when having a battery check for my PPM. Unfortunately the physiologist i had, had only experienced 2 other people with a pacemaker that were pregnant in his quite signifiicant career. I have recently had my care moved to a different hospital nearer to where i live, without asking me (NHS for you, love 'em or hate &#...

Heart rate changes

I guess I don't understand how the PM works.  I am 100% paced due to bradycardia - rate was between 25-30 bpm.  So my PM is set for a rate of 60 bpm.  What makes my rate go above 60 when I exercise if the PM is set for 60?  This makes me think that my heart takes over the pacing when I require a rate greater than 60, but I thought my heart could no longer do the pacing.  What am I missing here?

Okay, thanks very much for the responses..  I...

why do they not have bio-powered, or AI. charger batteries yet

As I'm looking at battery life for one of these devices it struck me that they would be PERFECT for bio-powered, ie heat and/or natural body made electricity or a qi charger for wireless charging.

Get on it maker of devices!

I am going to have a PM implanted at the end of January for 3rd Degree AV Block. I wasnt feeling too bad when this all started, however I did occasionally feel like i might pass out. But, now for the past week I have been extremely run down and weak. I've been sleeping for almost 2 days straight. Is this normal?

Deciding what to do with old device!

Hey all! I got my old device back after my surgery on the 7th and I'm trying to decide what I want to do with it, any ideas? Part of me wants to keep it as a conversation piece but I also want to take it apart...

I've also got a demo version of my new device but not much to do with that as I'm pretty sure its hollow inside!

Is a pacemaker right for me?

Hello, I am 27 years old. My story began in April 2018. At the time, I thought I just had nausea and vomiting, went to the ER, they said everything was fine and went home. Next episode happened in June/July. I completely passed out twice. Both times while sitting down. Second time I was sitting in bath tub, boyfriend found me passed out and lifted me up and was shaking me awake. He said he thought I was dead. He said there was no response. Called 911, sat in ER with monitoring. Told Dr. I was...

AFib and Flutter

Hi, I had a pacemaker fitted last June to rectify an occasional heartbeat of around 29. All has been well since but pacemaker checks have revealed that I am still experiencing periods of flutter and AFIB lasting up to 20 minutes at longest. I suffer from ITP with a platelet count of around 30. One cardiologist wants to do and Ablation but will not do it unless my haematologist will give me medication to lift my platelet count to 70 and then give me anticoagulent treatment. My haematologist is...

Forearm crutch use after PM implantation

I lost my right leg to cancer when I was 10. I'm 55 now, in good shape - aside from having been diagnosed with heart failure 2 1/2 years ago, partially thanks to heart damage from the chemo drugs back then. I'll be getting a pm or ICD soon, I use forearm crutches and my main concern is using crutches during the initial recovery. Although forearm crutches don't come up anywhere near where the pm will be implanted, several chest muscles are used when walking with them in the ar...

EP wants to see me after reviewing my nuclear stress test

I posted last week about going for a nuclear study due to a 6 second episode of VT in Nov. My stress test was Thursday. Today my EP’s office called to see me within a few weeks.

My appointment is for this Wednesday. All she could share with me was the fast beats that happened in Nov. She did share that perhaps my EP will discuss meds or changing meds with me.

I am on my 4th pacemaker over the last 28 years. Now, I am worried that they will want to change to a diffibula...

Refusal of PM

I am new here. On December 26th of 2018 I was told I have to have a pacemaker implanted at the end of January 2019. I am 39 years old I have 3rd degree AV block and the doctor says I have the heart of an 80 year old man. Apparently it looks genetic related. I am seriously debating if I am going to refuse the p.m. or follow through with it. There are many reasons I do not want to do it including the doctor doesn't have great reviews nor does the hospital that I am supposed to have it done...

Paperwork by Soumiya

Back in Oct 18, a young Swiss woman named Soumiya posted  a request for folks to be interviewed for her major paper required  to graduate from their equivalent of high school.

Apparently she only had about 14 take her up on the request, I am one of those volunteers.

Today she sent me a copy of her paper - all 41 pages that she had permission from the interviewees to share.

This young woman is not a n...

Pm placement

It is now 5-6 weeks post pm under muscle, and although not doing too much lm finding when l raise my left arm slightly the pm feels a lot bigger than it actually is. I can feel the edge in my armpit. I understand it can take months for all the swelling to reduce to a new normal, but wondering if this will get better. It feels almost like when l try to do anything with my left arm the pm is in the way like a brick in my left armpit. I would have though placement under muscle to have allowed fo...
