What's up everyone?
Just about to turn 40 and I literally had my pacer installed 9 days ago. Found out suddenly that I had developed complete heart block, which would have meant a limited and short life. Six months ago I had an EKG that showed minor left branch block. Somehow the condition degenerated. Had a thorough investigation- echo and MRI- and fortunately nothing else was wrong with my heart. That, however, left me with no explanation, and no apparent reason for why this happe...

Hi,
I am wondering if any one has experienced anything similar. I am one year post insertion of a dual chamber Medtronic.
The whole family have had a bit a a virus with a cough, sore throat and sickness.
Yesterday I was exhausted, today my chest around the generation and more centraly has felt like it’s being crushed all day. I just put it down to it being the virus, the pain is now quite severe.
I had the pm inserted for severe bradycardia;&nbs...

I thought I'd investigate a switch from Medicare to a Medicare Advantage Plan. Looks like I'll need to perform more investigating during the coming year since the enrollment end is fast approaching (Dec 7). My 1st line of questions were to see what plan allows me to continue with the EP and cardiologists I currently see. So far, easier said than done. In addition, there are many rules involving a Medicare Advantage Plan, i.e.: the plan can drop doctors whenever, enrol...

Hi. I posted a few days ago, I admit I have been a busy bee. I got my pacemaker 6 days ago and I walked out of the hospital into a spitfire.So.. .I lost a lot of weight. Like 57lbs :/ so I am 100lbs right now. and I dont have a big chest. Wide chest i guess. So my pacemaker is like sorta poking out :/ It just feels weird to touch and you can see it ;/ Does anyone else have this problem? is it normal for thin people to see it? Thanks I hope...

I put a magnet to my pacemaker to see if it would hold it and my pacemaker made a loud beep for 10 seconds and then stopped. I haven’t had any problems with since and didn’t have any problems before either.
Should I be worried? Does this mean anything?
Its probably worth noting I’m in USA on exchange and get back home (Australia) early January with my next check up in February

Does anyone with a pacemaker have experience with ultrasound fat cavitation? I just bought an ultrasound fat cavitation device. All the reports I found show they work. Fat cavition destroys fat cells. There are plenty of YouTube videos about the devices. Unfortunately, I saw warnings about pacemakers and fat cavitation after getting the unit.
Saint Judes Medical says therapeutic ultrasound is safe, when used according to their guidelines. The difference is that fat cavitation ultrasound...

Hi all,
Hope everyone is doing well. I haven’t been on here in awhile. Been recently diagnosed with a fib (paroxysmal) and I can’t take blood thinners. Dr is pushing Watchman device. Has anyone ever had this device or considering it?
I have a new pacer too, Medtronic Azure which I’ve read can override episodes of afib if programmed properly.
Any my comments suggestions are welcome. Thanks!

Hi there - New to the Club and would appreciate a response. Had PM inserted in August and a couple of weeks later noticed that I had a lump in my left breast. My GP referred me to the hospital Breast Clinic and I have since had two appointments. First one was a scan, followed 6 weeks later by biopsies. Both the Consultant and I suspected this lump was the result of trauma from the procedure and the pathology confirmed it was benign. ...

Do you pacemakers use a hot tub? I’ve enjoyed my life since the arrival of my pacemaker 2 years ago. I finished the 3521 mile Amerithon! I don’t know why I’m nervous about it, I take showers!

Hi there
I had a biotronik PM placed 2 days ago after fainting at work.
Since that time I have been experiencing quite frequent flutters in my throat and stomach (and associated slight dizziness) mainly at rest that often make me cough.
I think I have read here that you can go back to your PM tech and they can possibly adjust the settings to try and eliminate it?
Is it something due to the voltage settings for the ventricle lead?
I also feel quite tired fro...
Rate responsiveness?

New age pacemakers are rate responsive, what does it really mean? Do they really control pulse rate based on your activity like when you are running? What about your normal heart activity then that go beyond the minimum 60 set? Can pacemakers inceasre your pulse rate when you are still but in some tension?

So today i spur-of-the-moment decided to go see “Bohemian Rhapsody” and because it was Queen we were dealing with after all, i thought i’d better pick one of those fancy cinemas with the Dolby Atmos, laser projector and such. Turns out the seats were also fancy schmancy, apparently called Guitammer, which have a low frequency digital processor and some vibration generator in each seat. I thought i’d take my chances for the proper Queen experience, was on nettles for th...

Hi guys, first post. I'm post pacemaker 2 1/2 months. I went to the hospital to meet a new cardiologist last Thursday. They said that it was doing the pacing 89 percent of the time. For fear of the battery dying out to fast, they changed the settings to let my heart beat if it could before the pacemaker kicked in. I told them that it felt strange and that I really noticed it right away while I was still there. They said it was probably in my head. I'm here, Monday, totally feels like...

I have had a dual lead Pacemaker for almost a year and a half now after being diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. I also have a fib and I'm on medication for same. The PM was placed on the right side of my chest due to lymph node removal on the left side. About two weeks ago I woke up laying on my left side in bed with my heart pounding and my blood pressure running higher at times. Usually when this happens I lay on my back or get up for a while and it settles down,...

My wife has to have a Crt pacemaker fitted in a weeks time, they have given her an option between the Crt d (with defrib) or Crt p (without defrib)
Our question is how often do the defrib’s trigger unnecessarily? My wife is worried that she will become a nervous wreck waiting almost expecting it to trigger.
any experiences?
thanks, Jon

Today was indeed an historic day in the history of the World. One hundred years since the ending of the largest scale, most deadly, destructive war in history. Forget whose fault it was; forget who made stupid decisions,; look to the future. Will it happen again?
I have spent my entire adult life as a professional American soldier. My youngest granddaughter continues the family tradition by starting the 150th year of Army service as...

Good Afternoon all,
I had my pacemaker put in October 2017, I am going to DIsney World Jan 2019. I was told by my EP that rides are ok as my pacemaker is for a heart block and only "kicks in when needed". My question is, do you know if rides like Tower of Terror, or any rollercoasters that have the overhead harness would be ok due to the bumpyness if these types of rides... Any input would be appreciated
Thanks

I had a syncope episode while playing soccer on August 1st 2018. I went to EMER and they told me that I have a condition called as Dilated Cardiomyopathy and EF is around 25%. Doctor put me on Carvedilol, Lisinopril and Spironolactone starting with low dosage for 3 months.
This is my condition as per the doctor as of Nov 8th, 2018 -
Dilated LV with eccentric hypertrophy and severely reduced systolic
function. EF 20-25%. Severely dilated left atri...
