Sick Sinus Syndrome Diagnosis

I just turned 38 and have been diagnosed with sick sinus syndrome. It started in February with a dizzy spell last roughly 12 hours. the doctors were first concerned about my resting heart rate being in the low 50's but it’s been that way most my life. The doctors did several test including an eco, two week monitor, tilt table, blood etc.. In the two weeks test they found several events of heart rate drop and skipped beats. My heart rate was dropping into the 30's at random...

If only you knew

Hello fellow group members!

I don't post often, but I read the forum almost everyday!

I was wondering what would you recommend / do differently pre and post pacemaker implantation.

Is there questions or things you regret not asking before (if you had the chance of not having a pacemaker in an emergency situation)

What did you wish you knew?

What would you suggest a person waiting to have a PM (i.e. having a good night sleep before the procedure, if poss...

misinformed pm techs

It has been 3 years since I have been implanted with a CRT device usig His Bundle lead and a back up LV lead which so far has not been necesary.

One tech told me my bedside transmitter would be sent information every night Thsi was wrong as it applies to PM with defib which do not have. I had a episode of far field sensing which was incorrectly indentified by the screening in the PM center and was apparetly not further eviewed by the EP docotr. A tech  3 months later made the ...

Pacemaker making "growling" sound whien I am lying down/ reclining

February 28th, I received a Medtronic Sur-Scan Pacemaker due to Complete Atrioventricular Block.

Yesterday, while reclining on the couch,  I noticed a "growling" sound that seemed to come from my pacemaker. It seemed to only "growl" when I exhaled. Has anyone else heard a noise similar from their pacemaker?

Jansen the Dodger

NOT yet, of course, but, IMO, he is a candidate.  He has an irregular pulse and has had prior heart problems .. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

CRT-D Implant Question

I am going to have a CRT-D implanted Monday. I understand that the device has a pulse generator. Do you actually feel the pulses or are the sbtle enough that you become unaware of the sensation.

Any side-effects or discomfort that anyone has had ? I am choosing to have it inserted under the muscle. /.

DVLA

Hi, before I had my pacemaker fitted I was told be my neurologist that I had to surrender my driving license to DVlA and once I had my pacemaker fitted I just reapplied for it back. I had it fitted ten weeks ago applying for my license straight away, still waiting for its return. Anyone else had this problem?

First Pacemaker

Australian. New to this site.

I am 57 y.o. male. who was running marathons until 12 months ago.

Had A-Fib for a long time, but last 4 months became more frequent and more severe.

Coupled with this, I was having passouts, without warning. RHR was 40 due to fitness from training history.

Difficult to treat with meds, due to lowering high end heart rate of 180-195, the effect on low end at 40.

Passouts without warning becoming more frequent.

Do pacemaker lifespan be affected by electronic devices such as Electronic massage chair and PT device muscle treatment

Query:

1. Do pacemaker life span be affected by an electric massage chair?

2. What about the electeonic massage used by Physical Therapist for muscle spasm treatment?

I had a minor accident that physically affects my muscle/viens. I had a hard time walking. I was advice for PT treatment but i was afraid of the side effect if there is any.

Thank you. Looking forward for an advice.

Amateurs and pacemakers

When someone hears the ticking sound emanating from my chest, the believe it’s either a bomb or, if they know me, my pacemaker. It’s my valve.... I don’t think that’s ever a normal conversation.

New member--getting a St Jude Assurity PM implanted in 2 days?

Hi,

My EP chose the Assurity as I have Afib and it is supposed to try to pace you out of the PACs that often lead up to an Afib episode. Also it is MRI safe. Has anyone had experience with this model?

Thanks!

heart monitoring

I've had a pacemaker now for 1.5 months and I think my pacemaker needs a little tuning to get it right.  But I've noticed something odd. When I wear a heart monitor (in this case a chest strap that transmits to my phone), I'm noticing something unusual.  In particular, when I’m working out, the monitor is indicating ~ 50% of what it should be.  For instance, I’m on a stationary bike and typically my heart rate would be in the 130 range, by my heart rate...

Pacemaker Trade #2

I posted a message (ref: pacemeker trade) and the response was not what I thought I'd receive.  I want to understandstand the thought process my doctor went through to decide on the unit he installed in me.  Let's be clear, there are three major manufacures of pacemakers.  One assumption we can all agree on is, they are not identical.  While they have to meet certian standards, they all most likely programmed a little differently and depending on the model, have di...

new vitalbeat pacemaker protection, anyone buy?

Hi all, my son who is 5 would like to start playing football. He has a pacemaker. On doing an internet search I came across the vitalbeat shirt and protection. Looks good and would be more comfortable than the evoshield. The shield only goes hard on impact and then goes soft again.

Would lorve to hear feedback. It is costly so would like some recommendations before I buy!

Boston MV

A Boston Scientific tech told me today that the minute ventilation problem fix has been approved by the FDA. It is supposed to be sent to clinic techs on the 4th of September. Hope that is good news for anyone with MV turned off, as mine has been since February.  Good luck.

New to PM

I am an active 29 year old between working in law enforcement and the fire service I have always been active and even amateurly lifted weights. After what started off like panic attacks and moved to me passing out randomly I was diagnosed with bradycardia. After multiple tests from echo to tilt table to a Holter monitor my cardiologist has decided I need a 2 lead PM. The problem is this has majorly freaked me out I may be paranoid but I don’t personally know anybody who has a PM. I...

Possible Allergy? Or something else

Hello all. Been sometime since I posted. I had a Dual lead St Jude pacer put in Oct 2017 for 3rd degree heart block. I am 34 years old female. A few months now, I will have a tingling and burning face. Sometimes a rash (lacey) will be on my left arm. This comes and goes. Does not effect my breathing or anything in that nature. My PCP assured me its anxiety, however, I then went to an allergist who said, it is not. He did outdoor allergy testing which came back only a few things, food is negat...

My eight year old son had a pacemaker since he was 6 months old. He does very well, plays soccer, baseball, and rides his bike. I am so glad he is not ashamed of his pacemaker. He will proudly show his "battery" to anyone.
