Bothersome PM

Hi everyone,

Since the initial placement of the PM and months after I really had not been aware of it physically. Lately there are times when it is bothersome. It isn't only when I am in bed either. Can these things move around in it's pocket? Does anyone know why this might be happening. Just curious!

could be several things

It's possible it's moved a bit but they're supposed to be stitched into the pocket so they stay in place.

It could just be scar tissue healing, sometimes it aches months later for no apparent reason. A heating pad on low may help.

It could be that you're doing something to irritate it. Recently mine started bothering me - it's been two years since my last replacement- and I finally figured out it was my new Wii! I went a little crazy playing the boxing game and irritated the muscle around it. I kept right on playing the game and it went away after a week or two.

movement

hey Jessame,
Yes, the darn things can move. Gravity always wins out in the end.
Mine had dropped about two inches. It was in for about 3 years. At some point the swelling in my neck went from intermittent to continuous. It was because the wires and been pulled taunt from the ICD dropping so much. The skin stretches sort of like glass. It doesn't do it in a visible manner but slowly sags. If the discomfort becomes too much make sure to get into see your doctor. Otherwise, ask them to check it when you have your next echo, ultrasound or other "peeping" appointment.

Remember, don't use ibuprofen if there is associated swelling without prior approval. Tylenol works pretty good for the pain part.

You know you're wired when...

You have an excuse for gaining an extra ounce or two.

I have an ICD which is both a pacer/defib. I have no problems with mine and it has saved my life.
