IT'S COLD AND FREEZING.....

HI EVERYONE, I am home alone.... it is thundering freezing rain! I hate the freezing rain.... Anyone else out there in the Midwest sitting home alone with this awful freezing rain? It is about 1.2 inches of frozen rain right now....

colds

Hi

It is important that you rest in bed warm, until you feel more energetic. A cold, with a pm, is not a minor thing to disregard. Hope you feel better soon adn the freezing rain ceases.

Warm Heart Though

Hey PG,

You just have to look at it in a different light (and I don't mean the sunlight from a tropical climate). When it's like that in Ohio, I actually enjoy sitting with a good book and listening to the rain hit the windows (knowing that I'm safe and warm). The same goes for backpacking. The best times are lying in your sleeping bag at night and hearing the rain beating on your tent, but knowing you are dry. Maybe I'm so smug about that feeling now because I had to work in the elements for twenty plus years as a letter carrier (you know...neither rain, nor sleet, nor dark of night...).

Besides, you've got all of us to commiserate with.

That is all true

by pacergirl - 2007-12-10 08:12:40

I admit that what you say is true.... but tonight it is really cold and really dark. The ice has covered everything and thank God that I have friends here to keep my mind busy. My husband is driving in it and there are car accidents all over. AHHHHH! I worry about him.
I love the outdoors as well. But the winter storms are another matter. The last time it thundered here it struck my house and set my pacer into crazy mode! I had to see the cardiologist!
Thanks for listening..... pacergirl

Florida

I'm in Florida where it was 85 today. Believe it or not, you can get a little tired of tropical weather. I won't complain about it today though since the ice storm does not sound fun at all.

We do get terrible storms, but in the summer. Three years ago we had three hurricanes in about 6 weeks.

Well, it's not freezing rain here, but we are getting wet. The desert has been nothing but doom and gloom for the past week and a half! Lots of clouds, colder temps, and consistent rain. A little thunder, too. It's nice to have these days (I'm from Michigan and miss weather) but you do grow accustomed to the sun and blue skies. Not to mention the warmth! The rain we are currently getting in the valley and the snow in the high country still won't be enough to help with the 10 year drought! I have to laugh, though....getting any kind of weather here is a big deal and there are news stories upon dumb news stories about it. They showed this guy in the high country where it is snowing snowblowing his inch of snow off the sidewalk...PUH-leeze!!!! :)

You make me laugh!

by pacergirl - 2007-12-10 11:12:51

ela-girl.... isn't it funny how 1" of snow can send "civilians" into a tizzy! hee hee. The ice storms are only going to get worse. The Dr. I work for sent me home early today and instructed me to stay home tomorrow as well. "How about that", I thought.... and drove home just before the storm hit. Yip Pee! I get a day off on a Tuesday! Maybe I can chat with my UK friend!
Take care,
pacergirl ;-)

Freezing rain

Here in Georgia, we would appreciate any spare rain you could send our direction --- been a tad dry lately.

The freezing portion you can keep up north -- but thanks for the offer.
When it comes to ice, I have a theory that the only place it belongs is in a tall glass along with a beverage

Warm Your Heart!

by auntiesamm - 2007-12-11 06:12:10

Hey Pacergirl,

These messages should warm your heart although they can't take away the cold and ice. Here in Southern CA we are in desperate need of more rain. Had some recently but when it rains here it all comes in a deluge and causes floods - especially in the burned areas. I do wish I could send you our warm for your cold. As hooimom said you can get tired of too many days of sunshine! It makes it hard to believe it is "fall" or "winter". When we lived in WA state we did have snow 2 or 3 times in the winter months. I loved to curl up with a good book or stack of magazines beside a roaring fire in the FP and just enjoy it! Sending you and your hubby warm wishes for a blessed Christmas season.

by Rewiredaussiegirl - 2007-12-11 08:12:13

Hi Susan,
We could do with some of your rain here in Melb.Aust.

The farmers in the country are really suffering.
Parts of Aust have had a bit if rain lately but we always miss out..
My ideal weather would be (if I could order it)-Rain everynight and then nice sunny mild days !!
Hope you enjoy your day off.Say hello to Peter Nash from me.Loved looking at the photos of you all meeting up,in UK-Kay

Good for you, pacergirl! A nice day off awaits you tomorrow. I would put on the holiday song "Baby It's Cold Outside" and drink a nice cup of hot chocolate. Yup. That's what I would do!

Glad I could bring some humor to your dull and dreary day!

Rain and cold weather

by pacergirl - 2007-12-11 12:12:19

Hello Rewiredaussiegirl! If it were in my power I would love to share the wet freezing rain with you.

Now for Peter thinking I should get on to work..... well....... I like to be taken care of so my husband is at work and I am laying about eating bom boms! hee hee
Well maybe a cuppa tea just to warm me as well. ;-)

Seriously now, if I could send this rain on to other parts of the world that need it I sure would.

Take care everyone.... pacergirl

It may be the first time we've felt a normal heart rhythm in a long time, so of course it seems too fast and too strong.
