Have you checked your bp? Have they changed your medications? I know you've had enough doctors for a lifetime, but I'm glad you're going tomorrow!

Hi Alice, You mentioned to me that you have discontinued taking b/b atenolol. While I am currently weaning off of this drug (down to 12.5) I have noticed slight swelling of my ankles. Have you had any salty dishes or been in flight as this may be part of the problem. Is your h/r and b/p ok? Check with your doc on the weaning off of the b/b it could be part of the side effects.................Let us know what you find out and how you managed to wean off of atenolol.

Good Luck -Philman

I had a terrible time with swollen ankles. I would go to the Dr. and they could never figure it out.Time after time. I figured "My Problem" out all on my own.

I had went through having my PM implanted in Sept of last year. then in Jan. had it redone & put under a muscle. In March I had to have another surgery on my shoulder.

All of these surgeries...I was taking Pain meds for. Vicodine & Percs. As soon as I got off of them....Wow...what a difference. Haven't had swollen feet again.

Just a thought but...this was my problem and I can tell you...I tried Every Thing I could think of to get the swelling down. Ice packs...heating pad...special socks. nothing helped until I took myself off of all the meds. I started taking Tylenol for any pain.

thank you for your replies, i was a bit worried as i know that like cabg patch had said it can be the heart not working ok. i wasnt breathing too good either so that was another thing to worry about.. iwent to see my doctor this morning and he listened to my chest and looked at my ankles. he wasnt too concerned but said to ring my heart hospital which i did. they said if things dont improve inthe next few days to go and see them. they say as my doctor said its a combination of things i have come off my meds , iam not walking very far so much less excercise than normal. and my heart and body getting use to the new rate my heart rate has halved so it is going to take some getting use to..thank you for your concern, you have never let me down yet . i feel like ive got an extended family from all over the world and its a lovely feeling ...

hi i hope your not having too many side affects of coming down off atentol i had quite a few. dizziness and feeling sick, shaking i have been on them for many years and your body gets use to them.. they are addicitve so like anything you have to be careful.. i would say come off them very slowly. i use to cut a small piece of my tablets each week. i know it sounds silly but thats how i did it it took me about 6 weeks doing it like that last time. this time i did it more quickly and i recommend the first one.. they do their job but you will feel much better when your off them .or on a smaller dose.it feels like i can think clearer that a fog has lifted from me.. i would love you to keep in touch i dont know wether i could help but iam here if you need me . the thing is my body has been through so much these last few months pacemakers , ablation and moving my pacemaker less than a week ago. i dont think my body knows wether its coming or going and to remove the meds as well is just another thing for it to cope with. iam hoping that now at last i might have a bit of normal life if i can remember what normal is. i wish you well and remember if i can help anyone i will..

You know you're wired when...
