SEAT BELT ISSUES

I would like to know if there is any law or provision made that alows people with a PM not to have to wear a seat belt. It lays on my PM and irritates me.

Soft Touch

See the ad on the left for Soft Touch. If the women's ad comes up, refresh your screen until you see the men's ad.

I'm not sure about the law, but having been in a head on accident at highway speeds there's no way I'd pull out of my garage without a seatbelt no matter how uncomfortable it is. Just my opinion, ymmv :o)

I agree

A front impact without a seat belt could really shorten your battery life. LOL

How long have you had your pacer? Mine was a bit sensitive to my seat belt for a few weeks, but now I do 4wd off road trips with the belt right over the pacer and never even think about it. I just put a piece of foam pacing material over mine during the "break in period".

By the way I am 78 and thin so I don't have much natural padding.

Same question....

I had the very same question for my EP at my first checkup.

His response was that it's better to have your pacemaker banged around than to be tossed into/through the windscreen.

Being head injured would be dreadful, please wear your seatbelt.

Bruising goes away, head injuries are often permanent.

I wore mine with just the lap belt til the pain was lessened.

Good luck.

Florida Law

Buck,

In Florida you can have your doctor fill out a paper stating that you are unable to safely wear your seatbelt, and you are given a notorized letter from your doctor to show to the police if you are ever pulled over for not wearing it.
But personally, Id love to continue to see you back on this site and I would recommend you wear your seat belt. I sometimes just put it under my arm so that it does not rub on my pm.

Good luck

To wear - or not to wear..... seat-belts..

Hi!

I have a comfy pad around the seat-belt where it touches my pm...... It does rub a bit - but then I am just over a month post op. Can you adjust the position of your seat belt by the door? (Raise it or lower it) I can in my car.

Anyway I agree with the others on here - I would always wear a seat-belt and put up with a bit of discomfort than have massive injuries from not wearing a seat belt.....

Go to walmart or ?. In the automotive dept they should have a sheepskin looking pad (cheap) that goes on your sealt belt. It has made a big difference for me.
