Mammograms

Hi, does anyone know if you can have a mammogram done with a pm. I got my pm on July 3rd and I've been putting off having my mammogram for sometime now and was wondering once this pocket heals when I can get the mammogram done. Any thoughts? Thanks, Jean

I had my 1st PM placed in (L) shoulder pocket (usual place) in 2000 & had a mamo's few months later & one every year since. I agree with the other gals' wait unitil your not as sore & just tell them about about PM & go for it.

I had my first mammo after pm and the technician was very well informed on having mammo's with a pm. No problems!!!

I just finally screwed my courgae up and had my first mammy-grammy after implant. I've had my PM two years. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I was a little sore but that was more the tech not being able to get a good image (she had to do the left PM side three times! Arrgh!) than the actual mammo itself.

It was a relief to get the letter saying they didn't find any problems. Like the others said, wait till you are not sore then go for it.

You might want to wait a bit longer, you've barely had it a month. Unless you've got a lump that can't wait, I'd give it three months. I don't think you'll damage anything by doing it now but it might hurt.

I've had several mammo's with a pm. Just tell them when you get there that you have it, they've seen it before! The first time I went, they gently did an image just to see where the wires, etc are, then they did the regular imaging.

I would listen to Tracey....I did! And she has helped me sooo much...have I told you that lately Tracey...Thank you again.
My EP told me to have ultrasounds instead..but mine is not totally behind like Traceys. It's more on top buried under neath.
I would put it off a little bit though...as It will likely be uncomfortable!

missed last summer

hi i missed last summer and i am having one in september.i don't know what to expect but i hope they know what they are doing. i go for my p.m. check this week.i am also having day surgery in sept. i am at risk because my grandmother had breast cancer. i never knew her.so i know many people ahve ahd mammos with p.m.'s and icd's so not really worried as long as they know what they are doing. jess
