being pathetic!

Ok, so I had my pacemaker fitted on 24th July and have been lucky enough to have hubby at home to pamper me!! I have two young children 11 and 8 years old.

The thing is, hubby works abroad 80% of the time and is away next Monday - and already I feel so lonely and scared about coping with my p.m. and having to deal with the kids and trying to keep them amused during the summer hols as I am not supposed to drive.

Also how long till I can stop sleeping on my back!!!!!

Ok, sorry I sound a bit pathetic as I am sure there are hundreds of single mums with pacemakers coping quite well!!

Just feel the need for more re-assurance from you lovely people!!

Thanks very much and take care!!

Love, Louise xx

pampering and whining

Eat up all that pampering! And go ahead and get it out, we don't have any anti-whining rules. :o)

Why can't you drive?? I was driving after about three days. One handed, but it works!

Where is your implant? I slept on my back for about 2 weeks, then I slept on my right side, hugging a pillow so I didn't accidentally roll onto my stomach, and to sorta hold things in place.

You'll Be Alright

Louise,

I couldn't drive for 4 to 6 weeks. My doctor was most concerned about the use of my arm while driving and doing normal activities when I would forget about it.

You are truly getting over the worst of it. You'll feel better and stronger every single day. I am sure that your children would love to be helpers while you need to be pampered a little longer.

Sleep in any position you can get comfortable. I found that sleeping on my couch helped me get into a comfortable position for a week or two. I used pillows to get comfortable in my bed as well. Just find what works for you and sleep that way. That gets better as well.

This isn't considered whining...at least not on this site. I have had my PM for 2 years now (my "birthday was 7/19) and I still find an occaisional think to whine about. We NEVER sound pathetic!

Sounds like you are a strong and capable mom. You have always managed when your husband travels and you will manage now just as well. Don't hesitate to message any of us or just post if you need some extra support!

You know you're wired when...

You have an excuse for being a couch potato.
