suturing down a PM

I have a question. I'm over 3 weeks post-op and the PM site still hurts all the time; feels like something hanging from the chest by a thread sewed into the skin.
I read that sometimes they suture the PM into place.
I'm just wondering if this may be the problem?

where do they suture the PM to? the skin, or internal, and won't it hurt or does the stitch dissolve after some time?

After 18 months my pacemaker is still whizzing around.
I actually measured the movement with a ruler this morning. It was moving at least 4 inches side to side and 3 inches up and down !! Does not bother me but it does make me worry about my leads. Cheers peter

Suturing a PM.

Hi Ken.

I know this question has been raised several times, and some people have also mentioned thinking that pacemakers are sutured into place.
However, everywhere I searched, the same answer came up. And here is what it states.

" Next, the pulse generator is embedded into a pocket under the skin of the chest and the leads are connected. At this point the pulse generator has to be checked to make sure it is functioning correctly using a pacemaker system analyzer (PSA), a computer which checks the device is working correctly. If all checks out, the skin is sutured in place and a dressing placed over the wound. "

The key word here, is " embedded ." So from this, I would say that the pacer generator is not sutured, instead, scar tissue forms around it to hold it in place.
Don't take my word for it, someone else may know better.
Take care,

~ D ~
