Getting to live life with my PM.

Hi to all on this supportive site,my name is Francisco I live in Cape Town South Africa and I came about this site when I was told that my Hr was in it's 30's and it occasionally stops between 7 to 10 sec's and this only happens in my sleep .I am 43 yr's young very active in sport (soccer) and go to gym 3 x a week therefore consider my self quit fit, this as you can imagine was a shock for me and I went into a depression state. My questions to all you good people out there why does it only happen in my sleep and not during the day as I have never had any symptom's at all mentioned on this site and others, could I have being miss diagnosed, is there other tests I can have done to put my mind at rest and come to terms with my PM as I do love life.Date of PM implant 03/06/2008.

Many thanks
Francisco

Francisco,

Not to understate your condition, but if the PM fixes it and you have no other heart issues then live life to its fullest. Myself and others have more complicated conditions and just like you we fight depression and uncertainty every day. There are no guaranties but it sounds like you made the right choice and if the Doctors say all is now o.k. while you are sleeping then live every day to its fullest potential. Do not think about why me and what if - think how lucky you are they caught the problem and of all the great moments you will now have that may have been taken from you if you never knew you had a problem. Best of luck and to quote St. Francis Of Assisi " Start by doing what is necessary, then do what is possible, soon you will be doing the impossible"

I too only need my PM when I am sleeping. Otherwise, I had no problem. Found it basically while being tested for something completely different!
Yeah, I was kind of depressed at first, but I just kept thinking - hey, it could be MUCH worse!
That would have really sucked to be otherwise totally healthy, but not to wake up one day just because of a freaky short circuit...!

Give it time... you will forget you even have it for the most part.

Cheers!

I am just now 40 but have had these blackouts all my life. I am thrilled with the pacer and would do it all over again.
