New Pacemaker

Well, I am getting a new Boston Scientific pacer tomorrow. I have had 3 Medtronics in the last 7 years. They just don't hold up, so I am trying a new one. BS has an 8 year warranty/

I can't speak for Medtronics but I have a BS (sounds funny) for almost 4 years now. So far, so good.

No warranty

No manufacturer can give you a warranty! How long your battery lasts depends on so many different aspects, as for instance lead impedance, threshold, features activated (rate response, automatic threshold tests etc.), percentage you are pacing. No manufacturer will ever give you a warranty saying that your pacer will definitely last eight years. If you use a lot of battery because the threshold is high, then this is due to scar tissue around the tip of the pacemaker lead, so it's not the manufacturer's fault at all. If you were, however, given a warranty, then you could take them to court in this case, although it has nothing to do with the quality of their device. For this reason, among many others, you will never ever get this warranty - especially not in the U.S.
Good luck with that new pacer!

Hi! Think you will find the Boston Scientific reliable. Have an ICD by them.

I just got home. I feel great. Much stronger and breathing better.

I have a well tuned pacer. I hardly know I have it. I am 76 year old, hike and camp alone in the desert. I have more energy than I have had in a long time. The only problem is my wife wants to have a knob installed so she can turn the pacer down.
