Fainting Sensation

I have read that several people here found out they needed a PM after having fainting episodes. So here is what happened to me yesterday:
After lunch, I was sitting talking with a friend and all of a sudden I began sweating to the point I was drenched, my hearing was muffled at best, and I felt as if I was going to pass out at any second.
My friend took me to the ER since I have not felt like that since the day my heart stopped. The ER doc did an interrogation of my pacemaker and it showed that I had a sudden drop, but the PM kicked in boosting my HR up to 100 bpm.
The good news...my PM works!!! It did its job!
My question: has anyone else ever felt as if they were going to pass our while waiting for the PM to kick in?
I have a mandatory follow-up with the EP today, so we will see what he says as well.

When I first got my PM, I had a couple of "episodes" where I began to sweat and feel VERY anxious.
I too went to the ER and was hooked up to EKG, given oxygen, etc. (which made me a little nervous!)

They did a bunch of tests and even kept me overnight!

It came down to my PM settings. The PM was trying to work when it wasn't required. My rate monitor was turned ON at that time but it was determined that I don't need that feature.

I have also had the odd time when - for no apparent reason, I would get a "wave" of instant sweating. My wife told me this is as close to menopause as I'm ever going to get!
My PM Tech told me it could be my body getting used to the PM (like a nervous reaction). She may have been right because these episodes went away after a couple of months.

Remember to ask questions of your Doctor and to let tham know any time something heppens that doesn;t seem right.

D. Ward

After my pm implant I also had those feelings and was diagnosed with V V S. After many visits to the cardiologist who just wanted to put me on medicines and double the dose, I went to an EP. He explained what was going on, raised my lower pm rate from 55 to 70 bpm, took me off all meds and gave me the best advice: stay well hydrated! I drink plenty of water and a drink called Propel and G2, it has helped very much.Good luck to you, Boatman
