Hi all

Hi had my dual chamber pacemaker fitted 6 weeks ago, it sits on top of my right pec just under the skin. I am already weight lifting at 100%effort but with new routines. I wish to body board etc with my kids is there any kind of padding you buy for protection or is it a case of making something.

Oh and great site,
I had AV block with heart slowing or stopping, it seems good now.
The site is a very valuable source, thank you.

Tony

I've never heard of something specific for say body boarding. I know they make bra pads and seat belt devices.

What about just a wet suit? Are they padded inside or no? If I was to participate in water sports of anykind, I'd wear one not only to help protect my ICD/wire, but also to help hide it.

On working out, my EP told me to continue as before and my ICD is placed the same as you, except on my left. I still do my military presses, incline flys/bench, pull ups, etc.

Hi
My pm is located on my right side and I go surfing with no problems. It shouldn't be in the way on a 'shark biscuit' either -(sorry couldn't resist the use of that one!) .
It can be a bit daunting at first but after the first couple of waves you won't worry about it at all. Go forth & have fun!

Cheers Ajay

Thanks for the info, have purchased a nice new wetsuit and ready to go with my kids ( when the weather is good)

Ref training I have no problems, weights are back up to full tilt and no pain in heart on military press anymore. It is tough getting past some of the fears but hey its better to be on this planet than not.

Thanks all.

Doubt

Hi all, I have my pm implanted during july 2004. It is a single chamber non rate responsive. Pulse rate fixed at 70 bpm. Its medtronic model VVI. So find it difficult to swim or climb upstairs. If I strain, I feel heavyness in chest. Can any one tell me, if engage in physical activity like swimming, playing or jogging, heart's natural pacing will start. Expecting your experience and replies.

Thanks,

You know you're wired when...

You play MP3 files on your pacer.

A pacemaker suddenly quitting is no more likely to happen than you are to be struck by lightening.
