Computer Warning

If you receive a phone call claiming to be "the Windows Technical
Department" and telling you they have detected a problem in your computer JUST HANG UP. It's important to not even talk with them. they are a scam with the job of getting information from you. ANYTHING you tell them can later be used to sound authentic when they reach someone else in your household.

Thanks for the warning
Here in South Australia, husband and I often have a rep from 'Windows' phone and want to know details of our computer. We just say no thanks and hang up, or sometimes my husband asks to speak to an Australian, then they hang up. Cousin in UK tells them he does not have a computer, they don't believe him. He doesn't have one. There are so many scams out there that we need to be aware all the time.

It must be world wide, as we have it happening in New Zealand as well. Quite a few people have got caught out and given detail. I just say I know its a scam and hang up. Its good to make people aware.

Frank, Had not heard about this particular scam. I, personally, give no personal/family info to anyone who calls. Sad, but it seems all technical communcation is compromised in some way, so we can't be too careful. Hopeful Heart

This has been around in the UK for a few years now. My answer is always. " But I don 't have a computer , I don't believe in them ! "

They immediately disappear. ( until the next time )
