Awesome ---- That is exactly how I feel since coming back and hearing from a lot of my "old" friends...and hoping to make some new ones too. I guess a lot of us were shaken or shocked or whatever adjective you care to use when we learnt about Blue's & Frank's passing. I know it rocked my very foundation. Shortly after they passed I also lost my best friend to cancer (last month) and then my Uncle from Alzheimer's( last summer). 2013 was NOT a good year for me (emotionally) so I knew I just didn't have anything to give here, so hence my absence. And most of you know I lost my Dad to a massive heart attack 2 years ago and I am not dealing with that very well at all. I am STILL grieving; I don't think I will ever get over that. And now dealing with my twin sister being an alcoholic is just a little too much to bare lately. Sometimes I feel like running away; but what good would that do, eh?
And I had had kidney cancer last March - on my birthday no less!!! - and was meant to see the doctor today, but my appointment was cancelled; probably some kind of emergency popped up, but I'm totally fine with that because I feel good (physically) and I'll eventually get to see him to go over the tests I had last month...chest Xray and blood tests.
However, out of one of the tests my cancer doctor ordered in January (a CT Scan) they discovered something in my right breast and now I'm being followed every 3 months with a Diagnostic Mammogram & Ultrasound just to keep an eye on things. My next appointment for that is September 22nd. It was a very emotional start to 2014, but I'm hanging in.
Oh - and I am waiting to hear when my surgery date is for my 2nd sinus surgery...should be within the next couple of months. The 1st one helped a bit - I can now breathe a bit better, but I still have wicked wicked headaches. So I'm looking forward to this next surgery with the hope it will fix my pain issues.
I also had my pacemaker interrogated 2-3 weeks ago (I may be repeating myself - that happens with old age you know - LOL) and the good news is: I have at least one year left on this pacemaker!!! Not bad, eh? This is my first one and this November it will have lasted 10 years.
It does seem my life is wreaked in medical issues, but not to worry - I am having the best social life I've ever had as well. We got a few new neighbours in the past couple of years and they are around our age and we have been doing A LOT together as couples or as a group. So now I have a social life again!!!!
This time last year my husband & I decided to take half of our shed in the backyard and made it into an entertainment area. I will post pictures in the Gallery: it is the hit of the neighbourhood!!! He even installed heat so we had quite a few parties in "The Shack" during the winter and even celebrated New Years in there - it was so much fun. The Shack is quite large (20 x 20) so we took almost have of it and the back part is for his "stuff".
Currently I am looking to rent a cottage for September; Lloyd & I have done that every year since we met 20 years ago. Last summer, Harley (a pacemaker member), came here to visit me
all the way from Texas - it was one of the happiest times of my life. We met on here 8 years ago and to finally meet face to face was, well, words cannot describe it. And now I am looking at visiting her sometime this year.
Well, as most of you know, I like to babble, but I'll end here. Just wanted to bring ya'll up to date...and I'll eventually answer all the private messages I received during my absence.
It's good to be back.
Take care,
Pookie

Hi Pookie,
I am fairly new here. Got my PM almost 3 months ago. Wow, you sure have been through a lot, but it sounds like you have a terrific attitude. Glad things are going so well for you despite all your health issues and stuff. You are an inspiration to me! I look forward to getting to know you better.
Take care and have a good day!
