Update from Pookie

Hi Everyone!!!!

Well I had my surgery for my kidney cancer on March 25th, celebrated my 51st birthday the next day in hospital - just joking as I don't remember a thing. (We are going to celebrate our bday this Sunday at my Mom's.) My twin sister flew in from the United States on April 6th to be with me during my recovery until April 20th since my hubby went back to work.

They took just over 1/5th of my left kidney, sent it away to be analyzed and I don't see the surgeon again until mid May. So, between the surgery and seeing him in mid May my instructions are to do nothing. Do you know how difficult that is!!!!!!! especially with my twin here. I've not been a good patient at all and have been go, go, go...and then pay the price the next day = I have to slow down starting tomorrow. I made that promise to myself about a minute ago.

I am still in a lot of pain but nothing seems to stop me. The good news is: they got to do the surgery laproscopically (I think I just murdered the spelling) so I am left with 4 "stab" wounds and one incision about 4 inches long...that is what hurts the most cuz that is where the drainage tube was for so long and I'm assuming they used that site to take part of the kidney out as well.

Anyways, just wanted to let ya'll know that I'm still around and I promise to reply to all my private messages soon.

Thank you for all of your support...it means the world to me.

Pookie

so good to hear

directly from you and good for you. it is ahrd to do nothing. we as humans are not meant to do nothing at least i am not. i was conditioned from an early age not to do nothing as i am in the middle of four siblings all boys. my mom used to say maureen can you do this and maureen can you do that. even whilst i was working full time and raising two children and my husband was never there my parents would talk above me in the same room and say she could do more . our house is dirty and she needs to clean it. it was then that i spoke up and said i know a wonderful cleaning lady you can hire.you see my mom was the princess and my dad treated her that way. she in turn treated me like the built in maid.sorry for rambling. so i know a lot about doing nothing. i never did do nothing. love my life tho. sounds like you are coming along very well and that you are healing with no infection. i enjoy our talks in the early hours of the morning. usually i have been to sleep and awaken around this time. well once again we are waiting for answers from health care professionals. i am calming down tho as i know there are no shortcuts here in canada for faster care. bye for now my friend jessie

Welcome back Pookie

You hace certainly been through the wars ! It's great to have you back and I hope you have a fantastic belated birthday.

Give us the name of whoever caused those stab wounds and the PM mafia will deal with him !

Ian

Karen,

It's great to see you online. I've been tracking your recovery through other members and like I said in my email, take it easy. Your doctor knows best on this one. Doing too much, wil lslow down your recovery.

Say hello to Llyod for me.

Blake

................Pooks, I add my best wishes to my own Twin Brother IAN MCs comments.

Now, whilst I do not share his Gallant though Pugilistic attitude,..I do agree with Jessie..this is a perfect time to act, as we say here in the UK.."Like Lady Muck" and get everyone around you to wait on you 'Hand ,Foot and Finger'...after Januarys PM replant Mrs TM propped me up in bed with Phone , Computer, drink, newspapers etc etc and also an old saucepan lid and a wooden spoon that enabled me to summon her in a distinctly not J Arthur Rank fashion....often just for fun !

My very best wishes from the Homeland

Tattoo Man
