I will have my first pm 'installed' this Friday. Just wanted to ask a question of anyone which may have info about. My bp is around 45 and lower and I have experienced a shortness of breath since the low bp (too much medicine?) anyway, has anyone else experienced this and if so, did it subside once the pm was put in?
Thanks, Doug

Shortness of breath

My heart rate was in the 50s when I got my PM and shortness of breath was my biggest symptom. It improved greatly after my PM.

Look forward to feeling better.

It sounds like you are a good candidate for a pacer and should feel much better with it. Depending on how long your body has been subjected to a heart problem, it may take a few weeks to really get back your energy. I was lucky in that I got my pacer within a few days of my AV block and felt on top of it all as they rolled me out of the operating room. (I also chose to have mine in with local anesthesia).

One other bit of advice. Sleep with a pillow next to you to put your pacer side arm on for a few days after the implant. This will keep you from pinching the tender tissue and you will sleep much better.

good luck and let us know how it all comes out.

Hi Doug

Welcome. You will find this site great. I have had my PM for five weeks now and don't think I would have coped very well without asking questions and finding the answers come flooding in.

Take care good luck

Welcome to this great site.

My heart rate was around 40 too and I got short of breath just going upstairs and stuff, and the PM has helped me with that.

Best of luck for Friday, and as Electic Frank has already said....get lots of pillows!
