Tired All The Time

Hello. I have had my pacemaker for 3 months. I started working 2 weeks after my implant. I now feel tired all of the time, and have decreased appetite. I take heart meds, and I just feel more tired than usual. Has anybody gone through this?

Been there and done that and I know it is not fun. However, if your pacemaker is the cause it no doubt needs to be fine tuned to meet your needs. But if I were a betting person I would put my money on your tiredness being caused by one or more of your meds.

Two questions - what are the meds you take and were you given any new ones when you got the pacmaker?

Make that three questions, did you have this fatigue before you got the PM?

Tired

I am in the same boat as you! I have had my PM for 5 days and I have never felt this tired. I have been told by the DR the PM will take several months to program correctly and then I still may feel drained.

Before I got my PM I was taking 5 different meds and the digoxin was the one that made me feel the worst.

Tired as well...

Good question here gentleben4u,

I was tired before my pacemaker, but largely due to extreme stress about the upcoming need for pacemaker.... it is now 3 weeks since my implant. I am still very tired, but I see a little improvement each day. The little improvement is just that.... little! I think I should be able to do more and have more energy by this time. The last major surgery I had I was feeling pretty good at 3 weeks. I still have some discomfort from my shoulder and I do know that pain will make you tired. I am also not sleeping well because of the pain. Are you in the same boat?

If you are working full time, you will likely be tired. But, we need to make a living! My suggestion is to rest as much as you can, and be sure and talk to your doctor about your tiredness. It is my understanding that some settings can help relieve some of the "tired" feeling. If you are on meds that are new that could also be a factor. My meds haven't changed, and I have been on the same ones for a couple of years, so I don't think they are contributing to me being tired.

I hope the tired feelings end before too long. I am anxious to be able to get back on with my life! I am interested too in what others have experienced!

I've seen many posts about people being concerned about exercise after having a device so thought I would let you know that yesterday I raced my first marathon since having my pacemaker fitted in fall 2004.
