Confused? So am I...

Hey everybody. I am just wondering if anybody else is as overwhelmed by the amount of Medtronic recalls and lawsuits these days. With as many people depening on them everyday! I have never had a problem with Medtronic, but I am feeling a bit concerned...

I wouldn't say I am overwhelmed, but I DO find it interesting.
You know, as much as it would tick me off if I had to get a new PM or leads because of a defect, I can honestly say, I wouldn't sue anybody.

If they where found to be grossly negligent then perhaps, but I KNOW this is not an exact science.

I am just grateful that the technology exists to at least give us all a chance.

My "issue" isn't too severe. I am not fully dependant on my pacemaker, and perhaps I would possibly feel different if I were totally PM dependant.

What we have to remember is that all medical devices undergo alot of independant testing and have to follow very strict criteria.
Will that prevent EVERY flaw...? Of course not - but let's not for one minute think that ANY PM company is just "throwing units out there."

I also have a Medtronic PM with one Medtronic Lead and one St. Jude lead. I did have some set-up issues that bugged me, but am currently "problem free".

Am I concerned? No. Why? Because I have made a choice to not worry about that which I can't control. It's too hard and way too stressful.

Just happy to be right here - right now.
It's that simple.

You know you're wired when...

Airport security welcomes you.
