pacemaker replacement

Just had my pacemaker replaced. It was 7 years old in Aug and did it's job well! For anyone worrying about a replacement, it was a "piece of cake"! I had a great time fully awake (but numbed) and had a chance to ask the doctor questions that were answered. "When can I drive?"..Tomorrow..."Any restrictions?" ...only one and that is to keep area dry. If taking a shower to cover it with plastic.. The Medtronic rep was there. I went into surgery at 9:30 and out at 10 with a wonderful breakfast waiting for me. The entire staff (doctor, nurses, etc.) has an A+...efficient, caring, and absolutely wonderful!!! It was done at Dignity Health in Stockton by Dr. Ramanakumar...he is really excellent and also answered all my questions.
I was released at 12:30 with a great lunch to take home. Still feeling great (more energy) two days later. When your battery goes into "end of life", you really do get tired. I even have my old pacemaker to show my grandkids:) aldeer

Thanks for the very nice comment, Patch. Wish you had written sooner about GPS & Siri...my doctor would have really laughed about that request!!!! I see you haven't lost that great sense of humor. I, also, heard from Jessie. Yes, it is great to see the old-timers still here. I always look for posts from Smitty (you too) and so miss Electric Frank. Wish he had known how much we depended on him..
Merry Christmas, Patch, and hoping you will be around for a long time!!!!!! aldeer

Congrats!

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
