Full Body Scanner Images

I travel a lot for business and except for the last few months, almost every time I've gone through a full body scanner I've been asked if I'm wearing a neckless. Only ONCE did the TSA person ask if I had a PM. She said it depended on the skill of the person reading the image, which made sense. But for the past 6-8 times I've gone through those machines, not once have I been asked the neckless question. So people are getting better at reading PMs, or maybe there is no one looking at all.

I don't know about that.... When I came through Washington D.C. last month I went through the body scanner and as I was standing there with my arms over my head and in the proper stance, I noticed 3 people lean out and over to take a look at me. I'm not sure what they were looking at but then was told to step forward for a pat down of my legs. I have very short legs as I am only 5'2". So, I don't know what the interest was, but I'm glad I don't have to be patted down from head to toe anymore.

I've been through them more times than I can count. I've never been stopped but sometimes it's faster than other times. I would imagine it's pretty distinctive on the xray because the leads show up as well as the pm.

Read what you all have written!

Do you REALLY want to put your life in the hands of this machine? I've gone through two different machines of this design at Washington Reagan w/in 15 minutes of one another & had DIFFERENT results. I saw the screens - they did not even highlight the same areas of my body.

A skillful terrorist could have a field day w/ these devices.

3 times on my last trip outside Alaska & no pat downs!

But 2 or the 3 times tey wanted to look at something: #1: my elbow & wearing short sleeve blouse??, & #2
under my watch on my wrist ??? Glad to comply as nothing there. I looked at my outline on the scanner & each time there was a yellow box on the scanner that they wanted to look at. Maybe it was my hand cream. Who knows, but in Anchorage & Seattle airports they are looking.

Let the fun begin,

Janet

Always show your card. Make them aware of what is in your chest. You have to be your own advocate.

No One at the airport can see full body scan.

FYI

What does being your own advocate have to do with it?

Well, I never show a card and never offer up information unless it will obviously save me a headache...it's really none of their business or anyone around me. Even when they ask if I have a necklace, I just say, "no" and let them figure it out.
