How long til i get my strength back?

One week post op and i am still a bit "winded." It is probably because for the two weeks before the PM i was feeling lousy and lost any bit of cardiovascular fitness. can anyone relate to this? I gotta get back to work and right now I can do it but seem in not good fitness. help? How long til i can be my old self...thanks

i was 3 months recuperating but had been ill for 4 months prior and it takes awhile for the oxygen to get going again in your vital organs.you need the time to rest up kid. i hate to tell you . of course everyone is different but that is my experience jessie

It took me about 6 weeks

It took me about 6 weeks before I started feeling really good again. I didn't realize how bad I had been feeling until I actually had energy again! It's great!

Everyone heals at a different pace, though. And you don't really want to be your "old" self again. :-) You want the "new and improved" you!! :-)

Hang in there and give your body time to heal! Don't be too hard on yourself.

Getting "winded"

Altho I felt great after my PM insertion (my nurse buddies told me I didn't look like I was going to code any minute-hah!), then had to have both knees replaced. So can't say how long it has taken me to get to place where I don't feel "winded" ( I really like that description) but I realky love exercising in the pool. I have been lucky enough to find a warm therapy pool @ a local PT & for a reasonable fee I try to go for awhile every day. Just walking in the water is very forgiving & helps hold you up. I have been able to increase my strength w/o compromising my PM or knees. You might want to look into that as a place to start.

Good luck.

Hang in there

Just wanted to encourage you to hang in there and take it easy. I know it's hard for you being so young in the pacing business, but, you have to restore your strength one day at a time. It's not easy, and for sure, your going to have your emmotional highs and lows. It takes a little time for some people to get use to it. I'll send a pray for your well being and for your strength to be fully restored as need. Take care and have a great weekend.

Happy Thanksgiving

I love this new part of me, and very, very thankful that this technology exists and I know that it's all only going to get better over time.
