pacer replacement

I am a 80 yr. old female and have been paced for 8 years at 100% due to an ablation for afib. I am scheduled for a new pace maker on January 28. Am pretty healthy with no other problems. What can I expect? The wires are ok so just means replacement of the pacemaker. Been relying on you guys for years. Sure appreciate this club. Any comments would be appreciated. Thanks. DD

easy!

Replacements are super easy! They go in the same place so it doesn't hurt as much as the same time. Assuming the leads are in good shape, they just switch out the device and put in the new one. It's usually a matter of seconds between disconnecting the old and connecting the new. I've had 4. If I get an early appointment, I'm home fixing my own lunch. Good luck!

PM replacement at 100

My Mother is 101 and had her third implant at 100 using the same leads and pocket. They used local anesthetic and she was back home the same day. Good pre and post operative care to prevent infection is important.

I am 87 and just had mine replaced for the first time last month..Also, 100% paced due to ablation for a-fib. Without a doubt, it was the easiest proceedure I have ever had. Hope yours is the same... went home less than two hours after. aldeer
