Went back for Meds checkup

Well, I went back in after being swapped to Sotalol for my Vtach. I'm on 120 mg 2xday and it's just to much. I'm tired most of the day, worse within 1-2 hrs of taking my meds. I had to swap when I take my meds, because it interfers with working out. I still have a difficult time working out even when I workout just before the 12 hrs for my initial dose is over. If I can't solve the issues with the headaches/tiredness, then I'm considering dropping 45 lbs (almost all of it muscle) and going back to 150 lbs at 6' tall.

He has lowered my dose to 80 mg during the day, keeping it at 120 during the night. Not sure if it's going to work, but we will see.

I would rather get the pericardial ablation procedure done, though. I think to some extent sotalol will always slow me down.

I took sotalol for about 4 months and felt terrible all the time, in fact I was so sick I lost about 30 lbs.I was changed to tikosyn which worked great and left me feeling good, have been on it about 2 1/2 years.

Ablation?

Before you get too enthused about having an ablation there are some things to consider. This is a serious procedure which doesn't always turn out as planned. It involves deliberately destroying heart tissue in the hope of eliminating the source of Vtach(in your case). In the process of destroying heart tissue there is always the chance of creating a new area of irritation with worse symptoms. Unlike meds or a pacemaker there is no going back.
Oblation is a useful procedure if nothing else works, but not one to be taken lightly.

Unfortunately Meds also don't last forever and almost always have side effects. If I was older and less active, I probably wouldn't have as much issues with being more tired and having reduced cardiac capacity on meds.

I Actually had an attempted ablation, but they didn't remove anything, since all the problems I have are on the outside surface of my heart.

I wouldn't be alive if it wasn't for pacemakers. I've had mine for 35+ years. I was fainting all of the time and had flat-lined also. I feel very blessed to live in this time of technology.
