Any young pacer moms out there?
How was your pregnacy any issues because of your pacemaker?
Im 24 and starting to think about a family in the next few years.
Any insight would be great.
Thanks

Hello Jenn!
I am a 26 yr old mom of two. My kids are 2 and almost 4 and I had both of them while I had my PM. My PM was implanted in 2002 and I had my first child in 2003. My first child was delivered by C-section and second child was delivered by VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Ceserean). I had no problems regarding my pm at all! I will send you a message tomorrow 10-19 that's a little more indepth. You will do great! You can ask me anything, anytime.
Cheers,
Jenny

Hi Jenny,
I am due to get a PM early next year. Last year my docs and I were trying to decide whether to go for the PM when I got pregnant... Baby is due this Saturday!!! Anyhow, I did a good bit of research re the implications for pregnancy with a pm and bascally the problem isnt the pm, it is the raison d'etre of the pm. In my case I have congenital heart block but I am thankfully for the most part asymptomatic. We felt it better to wait until after babs is born to get rewired.
So,hope that helps in a small way. Good luck
Julie

Hi Jenn:
I was implanted with my pacemaker when I was 6 weeks pregnant due to 3rd degree heart block. I never had any complications due to the pm during my pregnancy or delivery. I was 34 when I received my pm. If you have any questions, please let me know.

Hi Jenn,
How about an "old" pacer mom? I was 36 when I received my first pacemaker. I was 38, almost 39 when I gave birth to my sweet baby girl. She's now 6 and a miracle herself...VSD (12mm hole in her heart) repaired at 7 months old! I also have 2 other wonderful big kids, 21 and 24!
No complications with pregnancy or the birth process. I was in labor for 10.5 hours. I did have an epidural so the entire experience was great! They monitored my heart constantly and it was fine the entire time. I have second degree heart block mobitz II.
You are young to have a pacemaker!
I bet you'll do fine! The best to you!
