I also have cardiomyopathy - no idea for how long. I had a sister who died from it as an infant - but mine was not diagnosed until last year (I was 45) Not sure what support we might be able to offer each other - but you are welcome to e-mail me. I have an ICD -R with bad leads - so .... sometimes I struggle to feel okay about it all. be well. PD
iam not alone :)

Just because you have a device doesn't mean you are damaged goods and can't do anything worthwhile and have to lie down and die. In fact, you're better and stronger. You're bionic!
I have a similar situation

I had an ICD implanted in September for the same thing. I had cardiomyopathy when I was a teenager, never had problems with it until I went in to the hospital with a 240 pulse in Vtach. I have been shocked 2 times since, not for Vtach, but SVT, which I'm starting to think is anxiety related.
You can message me if you want to talk about it, from the ICD (I can't stand how big it is) to dealing with the shocks. The shock itself I think is rather mild, but adjusting and not being worried after it happens is harder.
