PaceMaker Club Forum Suggestion

The "New Comments!" notice doesn't seem to be helpful for me. I stay logged in and it always says New Comments! even though I clicked on the post last time and saw them.  Logging out wasn't helpful either because if I am not logged in, there is no notice, and logging back in no notice either, assuming I saw them all last time.  It would be great if there was a link for "Today's Comments" or "Last 7 Days Comments" because sometimes a comment is made to something that was posted days or more ago.

Thank you for your suggestion

Irishtoast, I understand your frustrations with this site.  Unfortunately, new comments are not automatically bumped to the top of the forum’s posts, so if we leave comments on an old post for example, they will probably never be seen.    Unfortunately too, we are not receiving notifications of comments to our posts, nor notifications of private messages sent to us.  We have to log on to see private messages and to keep physically looking for comments from other members to any posts we make.  Far from ideal, I know.

The new owners of the Pacemaker Club are in the process of upgrading this site.  It is a massive task and we will need to be patient.  They will be making modifications and enhancements to the forum and will do their best to include our suggestions.   Hopefully in the next few months we will slowly see improvements in many areas.

Thank you for your post.  I hope Admin will see it and respond to your suggestion.

Irishtoast, Since you are a new member, perhaps the following link which should be copied and pasted into your general browser to open, will be helpful.  You will see that several members have given the new owners their thoughts on what they feel needs doing.

I've noticed...

by USMC-Pacer - 2024-04-17 22:40:08

during searches that lot's of really great content just dies with members asking questions that were never answered. As Gemita said, when posts aren't bumped to the top, noone knows there was a reply / question. Hopefully they upgrade the site to include buttons such as: LIKE, AGREE, LOL, ETC., and post bumping. Some sites have the ability to call out a member with the "@" symbol, ie: @Gemita, but I'm not sure if that works here... it is handy to ask a question and get a response. Just some random thoughts :)

URLs

I just wanted to note that Firefox allows the URL to be highlighted, right click, and select "open link, open link in new window, open link in new tab, or open link in new private window". There is no need to copy/paste it.

Thank you for your advice.

My preferred browser for all my Apple devices is Safari since I have had a few problems using Firefox which has not always been as fast or as responsive as Safari.  Links though don’t automatically open when I copy them into the Pacemaker Club, whatever I try to do.  The problem seems to be the Pacemaker Club end, not mine.   For example when I paste a link onto a Facebook page or in WhatsApp, I have absolutely no problem;  links are automatically highlighted and only need clicking on, to open.

Let us hope any upgrade will allow us more freedom/security to post clickable links in the future?

Wow Agent!

Thanks AgentX86! I hadn't even noticed that I can highlight as when I copy-and an option comes right up to open link!  Whew that's nice to know!  By the way I am using Safari and an iPhone!

Brave Browser, Also

AgentX86,  I  use Brave Browser. They open in a new tab.
