again not getting email notification about someone posting to query

Have to go on site to see if anyone has posted an answer to my question.  Since the takeover on this site i find we are going backward.  Spell check has disappeared and now  emails about those posting to our queries.

progress

Progress is often the occassional step back accompanied by the steps forward. This is a massive undertaking, technologically speaking, so it's going to take some time.

I've been finding the notifications in my spam folder.

not progress

Tracey_E i looked in my spam nothing there yet. Maybe an email should go out to all users of this site.  If we post a query in the forum, we should check at least daily to see if anyone answers.  Since the new owners of this site have not continued with  feature.

How is this site funded? I find it very helpful nd have never been asked to pay...Looks like the have a handful of adds so I dont imagine that drives alot of revenue.

I woud guess some folks are spending lots of time monitoring and maintaining. Givne the vakue I am OK being patient.

Keeping this site safe

New to Pace, thank you for your post. I have also lost notifications “temporarily”, since I believe notifications are usually restored fairly quickly now (at least my experience).

It is important that we continue to let Admin know of any difficulties we are having with this site.  Posts like yours are therefore important to all of us.  Indeed, Admin has asked us for feedback and I hope in due course they will give a progress report on how things are going.

I agree with Tracey_E, it will be a mammoth task to upgrade the technology of this site.  Personally I am more interested in making sure that we keep the site “clean and secure”, a place where members can feel comfortable and safe posting at a time when they might be feeling vulnerable.

Notifications

Seems to be a bit hit and miss.

Largely speaking, it doesn't work, but had one notification. I might have been logged in at the time.

I wonder if the device (phone etc) affects the spell check.

Google Android keyboard is quite good at suggestions - not a classic spell check, but way off something like Word.

One of the most annoying aspects of the phone based comments is it's ability to lose quite long comments just by switching out to something else, i.e. no draft save.

Other forums seem to manage all these facilities.

Piglet, for years, this site was owned by a single person who started it as a hobby and paid for it himself. He never expected the site to grow like it has and being one person, was not able to keep up with technology as membership exploded.

The site was recently sold to a nonprofit with larger resources. They are going to be making some major technological upgrades, but they are being smart about it and assessing the needs first rather than diving in all at once. Please have patience.

Managing the site

I am one of 2 partners and treasurer of a small busness that sells training manuals to Amatuer Radio Operators here in Canada. Business is strickly on line. Running a website is really a dogs breakfast. Everything has to run across a slew of platforms and browsers. You have Windows, Android and Mac all in the mix. What works on one ,one day may not work the next. Now add in taking credit card info and you really have problems, As Kermit the frog said "its not easy being green"

Cut the new owners some slack, Taking over a web site ia lot of poking around to find out why things are done the way they were. Getting into the previous owners brain is really whats its all about.
