Changed Website Hosting Provider

Good day,

We changed our website hosting provider last night. There may have been a small amount of information from last evening, like a couple posts or comments and new member accounts, that did not get updated. We apologize for this inconvenience and ask that you join or post your message again.

If you see any any issues with the website's functionality, please reply below to report the issue so our developers can resolve them.

Who's online not working

by admin - 2023-11-30 10:08:24

The members online are not being diplayed in the top right corner.

I wondered about the X.509 cert issue...

by crustyg - 2023-11-30 10:19:39

...that my a/v solution noticed early today.

ditto crustyg

My browser was unable to verify the certificate for the Pacemaker Club too.  I ignored the security warning (not recommended I know) and loaded the page nonetheless.  Hopefully this can be fixed so that members can be reassured that the Pacemaker Club is a secure site.

I have already reported that we have lost notifications of private messages and comments to our posts.

Thank you

Whew!

by Lavender - 2023-11-30 10:54:08

Was a bit concerned when I got the security alert about the site. Tried a few times but didn't bypass the alert. Finally typed in pacemakerclub.com and got in ok.

A few of my posts and a private message that I sent didn't make it to the new website but that's ok. Hopefully the new host is great 😄

Echo all comments above.

THANKS ADMIN, THATS ALOT OF WORK

by ANDREW75 - 2023-11-30 14:51:56

I had the same experiences as the others and like Gemita ignored the warning. Good job I have Webroot and Win 11.

Missing pic

Not sure why the pic above my subject line is missing.

Bet no one else will have a question mark.

Missing pic

by Gemita - 2023-11-30 15:34:46

Lurker, I have noticed quite a few members have now got missing profile pics.  It might be quicker to upload again yourself unless you prefer to wait and see what magic can be done by our developers?

ADMIN: All working fine for me so far

by LondonAndy - 2023-11-30 17:01:33

In case helpful: I am using Windows 11 and Google Chrome as my browser. I had no security warning, my content is all there, and I can access posts etc. Well done!

still not getting email notifications also still no "who's online"

by new to pace.... - 2023-12-01 05:14:55

Sent a private email to another on this site.  Did not get an email notification that I had private email.  Under "Gallery" the occasioal picture that part i do not think is neccesary. I find "who's on Line " more imporatant to me.

Another thing i would like to see on this site is spell check.

Comment box

Still no contextual paste method.

CTRL+V works as before, but a lot of people use mice?

Maybe I haven't explored it enough, but editting features like inserting hyperlinks are common in many other forum comments.

Agree that spellcheck is long overdue.

Feature Request - Recent Comments

by DoingMyBest - 2023-12-01 11:55:23

As long as we're piling on here...

I'd like to see a "Recent Comments" choice along side of "Recent Posts." Comments added to threads more that a couple weeks old tend to be missed by others.

Not necessary, but a deluxe version of that might include email notifications to all the members who participated in the original thread.

Thank you for your efforts to keep us up and running.

gallery

by new to pace.... - 2023-12-01 15:00:56

wondering why those pictures are suddenly appearing on the first page after one signs in.  I looked at some so old.  they are not current posters.

As i have written before it is better to see who is currently online.  In case you might want to private message that person.

Private messages

by atiras - 2023-12-01 15:10:56

My private messages have all vanished. Is it just me?

Updated: Looks as if it was a blip -- when I received a new private message, all the rest appeared.

I just looked and mine are still there.  That said this response had spell check on the subject line for me. Not in the body of this .

Atiras and new to pace

by Gemita - 2023-12-01 16:19:42

Atiras, I am so sorry to hear this and I hope there is a way to recover these messages for you?  My sent and received private messages are still in place.  I hope the developer will have a look at your account and let you know what can be done, if anything?

new to pace, the gallery pics when we sign in are rather nice I think.  They do include current and past members.  I have seen Tracey_E and myself appear.

Can't access site on phone

Any browser on my iPhone is telling me the certificate is not secure or expired.  Posting this on my PC.

Current Poll is Missing - No Access to Old Polls

by DoingMyBest - 2023-12-05 11:04:05

I just realized we are missing the current Poll that normally shows on each page.

I'd also point out that there seems to be no access to old Polls other than through the current Poll. It would be helpful to add a link to old polls in the menu bar somewhere. Thanks.

by Gemita - 2023-12-05 13:26:40

Yes when we have gallery pics displaying, we cannot seem to run Polls at the same time.  I agree it would be helpful to have access to past Polls from the Menu Bar.  However before any wish list, I would like to get our basic functions back first:-

1) seeing who is online

2) receiving notifications when comments or private messages have been received

I have also started receiving, apart from the continuing security message "browser unable to verify the certificate for the Pacemaker Club", an error message saying:  “too many redirects" which apparently occurs when a website is set up in a way that keeps redirecting it between different web addresses. When the browser tries to load the site, it goes back and forth between those web addresses in a way that will never complete — a redirect loop.  I cleared browser Cache and History and was then able to reload the page and to get into Pacemaker Club.  Hopefully it will all be sorted soon

A Suggestion

by IAN MC - 2023-12-05 14:56:11

Could we return to our original website hosting provider please.

The change appears to be a change for the worse with the most basic functions now missing !

Redirects/ security certificates

by atiras - 2023-12-05 16:37:57

It would be worth checking that you're accessing the site by entering a url starting https://pacemakerclub.com especially if your bookmark is very old.

IanMC, speaking from experience, trying to unpick a hosting migration is as much work as fixing problems arising from a migration and may not even be possible if software versions dont match. I'm sure Admin and co are working to get everything sorted but (having taken a similar very mature site through a similar exercise very recently) all the little tweaks put in to deliver user features come back to bite you on the bum, and code that was written decades ago is never easy to fix.

So give them time.

413 Request Entity too large Error message

by Gemita - 2023-12-06 05:19:57

The above message appears when I try to post photos to the gallery.  Why is this and how do we stop this from happening?  I will have a look at what is set up as you suggest Atiras to see if we can fix this from our end because I see other members have successfully uploaded recent photos

New Learn area

by Lavender - 2023-12-06 09:01:06

I'm loving the new setup in the "LEARN" tab. Access by choosing upper right drop down menu. Then check out all the great updated info under the LEARN tab on the left. 👏🏼 good job!👍🏼

Oh and I can live without the gallery pics displayed.

I can see who's online again. Thx!

iPhone

by batteryblake - 2023-12-07 19:03:15

I get a message saying the connection is not secure when trying to open the website on my phone.

You know you're wired when...

Your pacemaker receives radio frequencies.
