Weird headaches

The last few days I've been experiencing these strange little headaches. It's been almost 3 months since my device was implanted, and for a few weeks I have actually been feeling better. So I'm perplexed about the short headaches, mostly in my temple but not always. They only last for a few minutes at most, some are almost like ice pick headaches. I'm not doing anything different besides the fact that my energy level is definitely better. Is my body just adjusting to better blood flow? Or could it be something else?

ask your doctor

It's not the pacer. Anything new like that should be evaluated by your doctor. I'd start with your primary, it's highly unlikely it's cardiac.

I'm also wondering if one of my medications is the cause? I read that Losartin can cause headaches and I just started it this spring.

Losartan

Headaches are listed as a 'less common' side effect of Losartan. Ask your prescriber if they are troublesome perhaps.

I hope you find a solution.

Yes I would recommend a few checks and a word with your general doctor

Hello R2D2, I am happy to hear from you again and to know at least that you have been feeling a little better.  As to the sudden, stabbing headaches, I can relate to this and still get them from time to time.  Mine were first noticed at around the time of my arrhythmia diagnosis (Atrial Fibrillation) when I was having volatile heart rates and blood pressure, but these settled after starting a rate control medication (Bisoprolol, a beta blocker).

It is hard to know what may be causing your sudden symptoms which is why I too think you should have a general check with your doctor, just to be safe.  There are many potential causes and because of your heart condition and low ejection fraction, I would want those checks done as soon as possible.  I note you suffered from Clostridium difficile recently too so some general blood checks might be helpful.

In the meantime, if you can safely take extra fluids, I would try to keep well hydrated and it might also be helpful to keep a note of your blood pressure/heart rate over a few days to show to your doctor, especially if you monitor at the time of any sudden headaches to perhaps correlate your headaches to any blood pressure/heart rate changes?  Hope you continue to make good progress

Losartan

My money is on the Losartan.

Chances are good your EF rate (as well as other cardiac markers) has improved and you may need a dose adjustment.  I just went through that with the Entresto I am on.  I just got the dose cut in half due to my improved overall cardiac condidtions.  I had been on the increased dose for about 6 months but started to notice increasing episodes of light headedness.  I started taking my BP every day and noticed that the levels had fallen very low.  I took my information with me and he agreed that the medication dose was too much.

Have you had an ECHO yet?

Do keep track of your BP.  Keeping track ( and documenting) your vitals are key in any appointments with your physicians.
