My doctors also pushed it. I have constantly told them i did not want that device. I do have a friend who had it put in and was told she is quite happy with it. You can search this for that information on this site. On the top line next to "logout" there is a magnifying glass. Click on that a search box comes up put in the word "watchman"

You posted this same question in 2018. Guess you're still wondering about it and the dr is still suggesting it. Hope you find some peace and resolution.

Watchman

Thank you for your answers and caring! Appreciate it. New pacer implanted in 2018 a Medtronic Azure has the capacity to override an afib episode if it's a long episode. My episodes are very short. Also read that sometimes Watchman won't fit and Drs don't know that until they're in the heart. Also need to be on blood thinners for three months after implant of Watchman. I can't do that as I had a severe bleed from aspirin and needed transfusion which my internist insists I don't take any blood thinner. So I will start meds instead of Watchman.

I don't have one but from all reports, they work as long as they're embedded correctly. The'll likely have to do a TEE a few weeks or months later to be sure there are no leaks. If it would get me off anticoagulants, I'd do it.
Unfortunately, even though I have my LAA clipped (sorta like a Watchman but installed on the outside of the heart, closing off the LAA), my cardiologist just laughed when I asked if I needed to stay on Eliquis. I'm in permannt flutter so closing the LAA isn't good enough. Only about 90% of clots occur in the LAA, so the Watchman still leaves that 10%. With permanent atrial fibrillation or flutter the chances of a clot are still too high.
If your Afib is under control, it's a good bet. Again, I'd do it in a heartbeat,
