Hi all,
I'm the lady with the muscle twitch. Now that I've spent some time checking this it seems to come every three hours like clockwork and is more intense if I press down on the generator itself.
I have a Medtronic EnPulse. I wondered if this was the automatic check that it has, but why would I feel three sharp shocks that make my muscle twitch?
Anybody have any ideas? First appt I could get with my EP is Oct 16th. I don't feel sick and my pulse seems fine. It's just a strange shock, every three hours like clockwork. I could tell you the time with it. Any information or ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Gellia

I am new to the club, thought using pacemaker for the last 24 yrs(now 28 yrs). when i received 3rd one in March 2007, i was also looking for answer for 3 beats every 3 hrs. Now i found it, it may be useful - to lower the energy consumption, doctors can choose unipolar lead option. To check the impedence of the lead it gives shocks every 3 hrs. So dont worry if u r getting them it means ur pacemaker is working fine.
Good luck

Thanks so much for answering me. WOW! I had no idea my pacemaker would do that. Mine shocks started about two months after I had a Medtronic EnPulse implanted. My seventh pacemaker (first was 1975). As it was a new feeling, I have been very nervous about it. I know it checks itself, but I have unipolar leads that are nearly 26 years old now so it has been very nerve wracking, to say the least. This is giving me quite a jolt! Were the drs able to fix yours? Thanks SO much for your reply.

I wasn't really self-conscious about it. I didn't even know I had one until around six or seven years old. I just thought I had a rock in my side.

Hi I was wondering if it felt more like a shock or spasm? I have this happen all the time so don't feel like you are alone. I don't know and didn't read anything else to see how knew your pm is. It could be many things causing you to have them. For me my lead may possibly need replaced and sometimes all it is is some settings need to be changed.
If it is really bothering you and is painful I would call your clinic back up and tell them how uncomfortable you are and see if they could push up your apt. They def need too work on your settings and see what they can do for you.
If you read my last couple posts it talks about what I found out completely from my mayo trip revolving around my spasms. I wish you luck.
