Wanna Buy A Pacemaker?!

I had an idea; let's see if there are pacemakers for sale ON eBAY!

So I did. While you can't buy a new one, I've several framed displays of pacemaker collections doctors have acquired.

Weird, funny, but in my eyes cool! Kinda pricey though I'll have to admit.

Do a search on eBay occasionally and see what comes up!

Intriguing

But what would you do with them - maybe donate to a veterinarian or a 3rd world country? Display them in a case or mount them on a wall? Use for target practice?

cool

I've never looked! How funny. I have my first one. It's in my desk drawer. Maybe I should make a nice shadow box and sell it? lol

I think the ones on ebay are just novelties, Persephone. They have no practical use.

Pacers removed with battery left can be donated for veterinary use. Pacers that are past the date allowed for implant in the US but still new with years of life are sometimes donated to clinics in third world countries. Our site owner was (is?) on the board of one such charity, Heartbeat International. Somewhere in the gallery are pictures from when a group of us from here met in Tampa for their gala. Fantastic organization.

(drifting topics) my old one was passed around the dinner table once. Another member here and I became good friends. Her kids are my kids' ages and were worried about their mom when she got her first one. I was paced before my kids were born so they've never known any different, so we put the kids in touch with each other. When we met in person, her son was curious what they look like, so I dug it out.

A small shadow box is a very interesting idea

... embrace the "tiny art" theme. Or in a larger collage that shows images of all of the cool stuff you've done while paced. Huh...maybe I'll ask for mine when I get it replaced in (hopefully no earlier than) 2027

I have a collection of pictures of myself in front of cardiac warning signs. A couple of them are in the gallery. I grew up unable to do any sport or activity that would raise the heart rate (because it didn't go up, and this was before pacers were common for kids) so I still take joy in doing things the signs say I can't. Collage of them is a good idea. I might just do that.
