Thanks to Smitty and Jessie for answering my query. I feel a really Blue Australia tonight. Christmas is galloping towards me and it is a time of year that throws me into deep deep depression. This year the cards lay in a pile, no decorations, no tree, no extra fare in the cupboard. I feel very very tired and would love for one of my kids to make the effort for a change. "Hey Mum & dad, why don't you come up to us this year?" But my married sons have never done their turn. Funnily enough I feel extremely relieved and am not putting myself under pressure to please anyone. Yep I think it will be that way this year. We intend to take a picnic to the beach. Hope the weather is fine. All disposables, dear old Glad Bag can clear up. I think the news of Brian's incurable illness has finally hit me. Neither of our sons acknowledged the news.
I do wish everyone a great Christmas. Enjoy yourselves I hope you all have a good New Year coming up. Tons of love to you all. Someone please tell me what lol means. Billie

Hi Billie,
sorry to here you are feeling so "Blue" especially at this time of the year... yes kids can be a pain believe me I know.....I don;t know what to say to make you feel better.....just lets hope the weather is nice.. and you and Brian can let it all go over your heads "a jug of wine a loaf of bread" ect. sitting in the warm on the beach.
I always smile at my first year in Oz ..the shops playing Christmas carols.. and when you go outside to the car a hot northerly hits you and the temperature was up in the 90's.
How ever it pans out for you over the holiday I hope you both enjoy it take care Peter N
To My Beautiful Friends...

Dearest BA,
I am just recovering from the flu and it is the week before the biggest holiday of the year. I haven't posted the package to my friends. I've been too sick. However It isn't about the gifts, it is about the caring. I let them know how much I care everyday. I am letting you know how much I care about you today as well. There is room in my heart for you and for your lovely husband.
I hope so much that the sun shines upon you on today and on Christmas day as well. There have been times I was so sad at Christmas time as well. You are not alone. I will take time today and on Christmas Day to close my eyes and think of you and your lovely husband sitting on the sandy beach with a warm breeze and the beautiful water... I reach out and send the warmest of greetings to you both. You will be with us your pacer family. I hope you can "feel" the love.....I do.
Love, Susan/pacergirl

it is too sad when adult children do this to their parents. you are not alone. our parents are not perfect. i wish i still had them around. my brother who is a retired lawyer now ignored my father at christmas after mum died and blamed mum for all his personal problems. i send him a card every year and he never replies. so he as far as i am concerned is missing so much in his life. it tho billie is his choice and this is the choice he made.so take your picnic to the beach and the two of you enjoy the day. remember as suan says we are your family and we are a family with a heart. merry christmas to you both love, jessie

Hi BA,
It means "laugh out loud" and is one of those codes they use for shorthand in chat rooms. I guess it saves time. I tried the chat room once but was befuddled by all the abbreviations...so I doubt that I'll try again. My keyboard skills are too slow to keep up. There were three people trying to communicate at once - and by the time I typed my response they were three topics ahead already.
BTW ("by the way" - one of the few other abbreviations I know), I am looking out the window right now at all the snow in the yard and listening to the forecast of single digit temps. You can't be depressed down there if you can head to the beach this time of year. But my best to you anyway.
