9 years ago today I got my 5th pacemaker. I named it Johnny. It still says I have 3 more years until I need a new one. This is my longest one yet.

Five years?!

Hard to believe. Mine (named the same as yours Gemita, Mr. Nameless) will be five years old in February. It still reports three years left, for whatever that means. It originally reported >10 years but the CRT has gotten to it evidently. They'll replace it immediatly after ERI so that subtracts six months. Or not.
Yes nearly five years

AgentX86, I also cannot believe where the years have gone. It only seems like yesterday when I had the pacemaker implanted (two months after my husband got his). I guess we have all learnt a lot since then about our heart condition and our implants and will continue to go on learning. I was certainly never told very much at the time of implant about future device (battery) changes or how they might replace or add leads. How little I would know without the Pacemaker Club.

I was told 7-15 years at implant.
Eighteen months later, I have 5.5 years left.
I too was told nothing about pacemaker replacement etc. and learned what I know here on this site🤓
At the hospital, my pcp told me to name my pacemaker and he suggested a name. I wasn't feeling too friendly towards having my device. It was an unwelcome intruder. I've grown used to it but certainly am not embracing it-more like tolerating it. 😜 But, I do want it to stay😆
Nice!!

I'm also on my 5th and have 2-3 years left. Twinsies! That is a terrific battery life. My previous longest is 7, this one will be around 10.

Beckes, you are an experienced pacemaker recipient and I can see that Johnny has given a really good service. Congratulations on 9 years today.
I had my first pacemaker implant in 2018, so coming up to 5 years in May 2023. I don’t think I will get 9+ years service out of my device but I hope my nameless pacemaker will surprise me. Out of interest, how long did your other pacemakers last? My current pacemaker is also a Medtronic (Ensura) dual chamber.
