Thanks

Went in yesterday at 4:00 for pacemaker implant and on my way home by 9:00. First night has gone well. No complaints, cannot remember the last time my heart beat at a steady 70 beats per minute I knew exactly what to expect from reading the posts on this site. Thank all of you and I hope I have something to contribute along the way.

Good for you for educating yourself prior to implant! Prepared like a Boy Scout for the adventure! I only found this site after my pacemaker was put in, and when I was in distress. Would've been nicer knowing ahead what to expect.

Yes like you I've tried to learn all I can prior to implant, if for no other reason than to at least be able to intelligently discuss this with the cardiology team. I saw them two days ago and my EKG has not changed: sinus rhythm for the atria at 70 per minute, and rocksteady junctional rhythm for the ventricles at 40 due to complete AV block. So, they want to do DDD pacing so that the pacemaker basically replaces my severed AV connection. Apparently that's all it will do. As long as the atria do appropriately what my body needs, the PM will transmit that to the ventricles which will beat after a very short delay. My appointment is September. Will report in afterwards!

You know you're wired when...

Airport security welcomes you.

I had a pacemaker since 2002 and ever since then my life has been a total blessing.
