Hello members
Haven't been around for some time.
I had a check-up for my CRT-D last week.Thought I share it with you guys here.
(CRT-D Was implanted in Feb 2021 after severe Heart failure had been diagnosed in Nov 2020: severely dilated left ventricule EF at 15 % and lung oedema)
The EP doctor said that my heart is responding very well, and seems nearly back to normal. EF at 45.
All the genetically tests (72) came back négatif. So they still can't explain why I had HF.
After nearly a 1 1/2 years, the battery is still at 100 % full. (That sounded weird..)
When I asked him if it could be possible to not need a defibrillator any more, but a CRT-P next time, he said they could not tell.
Since the heart is not Dilated anymore, the risk of sudden death is reduced
Has anyone here changed from a CRT-D to a CRT-P?
I m back at work, but thanks to our system here in France, I will be able to go work part time without any salary loss.
How cool is that ?
Thanks for reading this.
I have always found great support on this forum, and wanted to share hoping someone will read it one day and feel a little hope for her/his own similar situation.
Take care
Tulp

More than “rather good news”

Tulp, it was good to hear from you and to know that you are doing so well. I just love your paintings and I could happily have them displayed around my home. The colours, textures and shapes are really appealing. I can see a seahorse in one of the paintings! When did you start painting and who, or what inspired you?
Your message this morning was indeed one of hope for so many with heart failure. I am personally affected with both my husband and my sister having in the last year been diagnosed with heart failure. My husband has right sided heart failure, complicated by lung disease and pulmonary hypertension and my sister has severe global systolic dysfunction. My sister was very poorly last November with an Ejection Fraction of only 16% but seems to be doing better now on a cocktail of meds, so there is a lot that can be done.
It would be difficult for your doctors to confidently recommend replacing your CRT defibrillator Pacemaker with a CRT Pacemaker when your battery expires, since there is no way for them to know what the future may hold, especially as your tests so far have all been negative and they still cannot fully explain why you experienced sudden heart failure? The signs though are all excellent at the moment Tulp for your continued recovery in the future, so why worry about changing anything in a hurry.
Back to work part time without salary loss sounds perfect to me. Are you able to work from home sometimes, or do you need to attend the office?
Thank you so much for posting your inspiring results Tulp (and paintings). You have indeed given hope to so many who may be struggling to cope with heart failure and who feel that little can be done to reverse their fortunes. You have proved this is not always the case and that heart failure may be successfully managed with a range of treatments.
I wish you well Tulp and many many happy hours of painting.
