Anyone else w/ 1st PM for SSS, bradycardia - now PM picking up V tachycardia incidents?

Got PM 10/6/21.  Since then, PM has picked up V tach incidences (longest 12 secs while sleeping).   Just received cardiac MRI results, no scar found so that is not the cause.

I'm curious, maybe I've had these all my life (or part of my adult life) & thought I was just dizzy or hypoglycemic at the time.

My EP just started getting regular transmissions from my Medtronic Carelink app.  Will meet in June to discuss options.   Luckily these VT's have fallen into the 'non-sustained' category as of yet.

Has anyone else had their new PM for bradycardia pick up V Tach?.

Yes non sustained VT sufferer here too

Katy,

Yes since my implant in 2018 (for tachy/brady syndrome) I have had some non sustained VT (NSVT) episodes picked up but I do have other arrhythmias, so it would appear to be caused by my electrical disturbances which degenerate into NSVT occasionally.  They have not progressed on a low dose of Bisoprolol (beta blocker). I do not have any coronary/ischaemic heart disease which can be a cause.  Also check your electrolytes.

Short runs of non sustained VT can be a common finding for many of us but they need watching and if you are symptomatic they will need treating with a rate control med like a beta blocker + treating any underlying condition.  Sustained VT is another matter and would be dangerous.  I am glad you are being closely monitored so that you will remain safe. Please keep us updated and good luck when you see your EP in June.

Vtach

I just found out about a short run of VT. I don't know how long as the clinic hasn't uploaded the report yet. This is the first instance since I got the implant 3 years ago.  I am starting metoprolol succinate (beta blocker)  as a result. It's actually helped me by decreasing racing thoughts.

My VT is likely related to progression of my cardiomyopathy from a genetic abnormality.

Bisoprolol!!!!!

Please make sure you are on Bisoprolol.  All cardiologist will insist that you be on a beta blocker and they usually recommend the latest one.  All beta blockers are not the same and can operate on different parts of the beta channel.  Bisoprolol is the best to keep non sustained vt's in check!  That doesn't mean you won't have any but not as many.  Took me years of trial and error to find that all out and just had it reconfirmed last week by another group of cardialogists who are now concerned (or not concerned) about my nsvt's having become atrial contractions.  I laughed when I heard that, I think they were offened, but it's my way!

V Tach was 180 - Thanks for the responses

I have no Coronary Heart or Ischemic Disease.  Extremely good cholestrol results, no blockages.  (Chemical Stress Test run before putting in PM).   Low BP

Appreicate your responses.   So maybe we have all had these VT events prior to getting a PM, and its only now that we are finding out such because of the internal monitoring.

Thanks

Katy, I'm with you on your way of thinking.  As have the same results as you.  With no one calling me to tell me of these episodes now.

bradycardia and VT

by skigrl3 - 2022-05-21 19:58:35

So I have always been a fainter due to bradycardia, since a kid. I passed out last summer while power walking and they inserted a cardiac loop monitor. 1 month in I had VT (and a separate svt event).   My cardiologist feels these were anomalous events due to my consistent history w brady. So I did end up with a biotronik dr-t pacemaker a week ago.  no more signs of svt or vt so hoping that's that.

Skigrl3 - bradycardia and arrhythmia

It is strange you should mention this because my EP always said that I had mainly bradycardia induced arrhythmias.  Although I still get arrhythmias, including VT, events are now noticeably less frequent and I am almost asymptomatic so the pacemaker has made a real difference - for me at least.  So correct the trigger and we may help correct the arrhythmia.  I also had a Reveal Linq monitor prior to my pacemaker to pick up intermittent syncope with good symptom correlation to my arrhythmias.  Hope the pacemaker helps you
