monitoring

I have a Guidant PM made by Boston Scientific. I have been told that I can't have my PM monitored over the telephone.
Anybody know anything about this? I have been told that some people do use the telephone..

Phone Check

by janetinak - 2007-10-09 02:10:48

I am on my second Guidant since 2000 & have always had phone checks. Do it every other time (office check alternate) so I am checked every 3 months as I am 100% PM dependent. Who told you this? Maybe you better check with the EP &/or his/her office nurse/tech to get the scope. Good luck. Let us know what you find out. I have about 4 yrs left on this 2nd one (had it since 2003) so sure hope they haven't changed things since Boston Sc. took over. Doubt it tho

Mine is a dual IDC & PM 100% dependent. However Boston Sci has a machine called the "Latitude"

And my machine scans we 3 times a week and automatically uploads my data. Go to thier web site for Boston Sci and follow the link to the Latitude.

Your Cardioligst should have told you about this. All you need to do is request it.

I have Guidant Dual PM

I also have a Guidant Dual PM and have phone checks every month now due to low battery. Used to be every 3 months. I would definitely check on it or possibly go to another clinic to see if they can check it over the phone. I am guessing that maybe they do not have the equipment to do phone checks. That's just speculation of course. Sounds kind of kooky to me though. I would ask some more questions.

--I have not heard of the "Latitude" .....interesting. I just saw my EP and he did not mention this to me. I'll have to check it out. I am quite content with the way things are done now.

Cheers,
Jenny

Latitude

I just read up on the "Latitude" and from what I gathered, it only works for ICD's and CRT-D and does NOT work for a PM.

It sounds like a pretty nice system to have and maybe sometime soon they will come up with one used for PM. :)

Cheers,
Jenny

I appreciate your comments and suggestions. I'll discuss this w/my cardioligist next week.
