Received my PM 6/20/07

Every thing so far has went well, stay overnight in Hospital
and haven't had any problems, little sore at the implant location
but otherwise great. Told I could take up tennis again within
(2) weeks, that sounds great but I won't till I know for sure
that its not to soon. I love walking, in which I am doing
since I have been home. Gene

Tennis in 2 weeks?????

by auntiesamm - 2007-06-22 03:06:42

Hi Gene Ray - Good news on your implant and that you are feeling well. It concerns me that you were told you could take up tennis again in 2 weeks! Last time I swung a racquet my arm went way above shoulder level! Weren't you warned NOT to raise your arm above shoulder level? My EP told me 6 weeks as most of the others here will tell you because of the danger of pulling the leads loose. It was the most difficult part of my recovery - remembering not to reach above that level to open cupboards, comb hair, etc. Before you attempt tennis again please, please check with your doctor again. Even if you go online and do a search for post-implant recommendations you will find a minimum of 6 weeks is standard. Or, check with the manufacturer of your PM. Don't do anything to undo what has just been done! Be very careful and God bless you.

2 weeks HUH?

Hello Gene! I am glad to hear that everything went smoothly with your implantation! Soreness will only get better everyday and you will feel like you are a new person. :) I am also concerned that they told you you could start playing tennis in 2 weeks. I would definitely wait a full 6 weeks no matter what. There needs to be time for your body to recover from any kind of surgery. I would hate to see one of your leads pulled out. Just be careful and don't over exert yourself. You'll be up and playing tennis in no time, just don't over do it. Hope here on out goes smoothly for you. Keep us posted.

Cheers,
Jenny
