greetings from san diego, ca.
my names Carmelo, aka el Guapo, ( the bad guy from the movie three amigos, not say'n im a bad guy, just thought he was funny.) with the name Carmelo or el Guapo you would think i would be able to speak some spanish, to my regret i cant speak a lick of it (blacksheep of the family) its kinda sad since i live about a stones throw away from the t.j. border. oh well. anyway all this pacemaker stuff is very new to me, my doc. just threw one in me last thurs. the 21st, i gotta say i feel alot better but still experience'n afew things here and there, hope'n to iron that out.
i do have one question , i have been planning a disneyland trip, do any of you know if there are certain rides i should watch out for? thanks in advance.

Welcome to the club, El Guapo! I'm ela-girl, your friendly neighbor in Phoenix, AZ about 6 hours from ya! I grew up in San Diego--my stepdad was a Navy man. As far as your lack of Spanish skills, I'm a Spanish teacher, too, so let me know if you ever have a question!

As far as rollercoasters, I've heard mixed reviews. I will have to agree with Rusty when he says it depends. I would ask your doctor. I'm not sure when you are planning on going, but I would think if it is before you've had your pm for 6 weeks, I would pass. Again, I would ask your doctor. No sense in pulling a lead or getting jarred in a manner that would be bad for you and your pacer.

So, if you don't mind my asking, what lead to the pm implant? I've had mine for almost 9 months now.

Keep in touch with us all and let us know how you're doing!

Happy pacing!

Welcome to the club. I def. would check your doctor about restrictions but the futher away from the implant the better it will be.We're planning on taking our kids to Disney next year and I can't wait. (I'm not a roller coaster person so I don't have to worry about that) In the past before I got my PM I would always worry my husband when I would go on rides at amusement parks (and Disney on our honeymoon) that had warnings if you had heart problems not to ride them. It never stopped me.(and I use to like roller coasters) (I was diagnosed with a complete heart block at birth and ust got my first pm a year ago) I loved the Tower of Terror and I probably shouldn't have gone on it but I didn't care.

Welcome

And here I thought guapo meant handsome! It has obviously been too long since I have seen The Three Amigos.

Okay Carmelo, most of the PM makers have websites that list exactly what to stay away from. Check with that site and see what they have to say about rides. I was told by my EP that there were some rides to avoid because of electromagnetic fields. I have no idea what they are because I am terrified of roller coasters and had no plans on riding one anyway.

Have a great time.

The Real El Guapo :)

"In a way, each of us has an El Guapo to face. For some, shyness might be their El Guapo. For others, a lack of education might be their El Guapo. For us, El Guapo is a big, dangerous man who wants to kill us. But.... the people of Santa Poco can conquer their own personal El Guapo, who also happens to be *the actual* El Guapo! "

I love that movie!

Hi, I'm from Anaheim, CA...near Disneyland. Well, mostly all the rides at Disney have caution signs that nearly lists all medical ailments; I'm guessing they definitely dont want a lawsuit on their hands (not that they couldn't afford it! lol).
Anyway, I'm glad you are feeling much better; it does make you want to go places to celebrate, doesn't it?
But just make sure you dont overdue it and as the posts above mentions, make sure you get the clear from your doc.
As for the rides to look out for: Indiana Jones is very bumpy/jerky, as well as the Matterhorn.
Actually, if you go to this Disney website, you can review all the rides and restrictions.

Good luck with your recovery; have fun :)

My kids and I love the 3 amigos. "Efe, would you say I have a plethora of sweaters?". Welcome to the club. I've had mine for 3 months now and things are finally going great. I would think the main thing is to make sure any harnesses or straps don't ride on top of your wound. And don't raise your raise your elbow over your head. A couple of people here have posted messages about riding roller coasters and doing well. I guess it also depends on why you got your pacemaker inthe first place.
Take care friend and let us know how you are doing.
Rusty

In fact after the final "tweaks" of my pacemaker programming at the one year check up it is working so well that I forget I have it.
