Heart Failure

Just sort of wondering about symtoms and relief from them. I am going from no symtoms to being short of breath, tired all the time, stomache pains with no clear cause, muscle aches, weight gain, chest pain and about everything else I can think of. They have doubled my water pill to try and aese the strain on my heart, but that is it. I'm kinda getting scared, but I wonder what they can do to really help. I have been hospitalized for short periods but am not too bad when I don't do anything! What I wonder is can I do more on my own to help? I do watch my fluids and salt and my cholesterol levels are good. Another question: I always end up with full-fledged vertigo when I feeling really lousy. Any suggestions?

Hi GrandmaD, I dont have a whole lot to offer except that I have always been told to sit with my legs higher than my heart.

Something you could check into is, my hospital has a special Heart Failure clinic. If your hospital has one, maybe your doctor would give you a referel to it. I personally have not been to one but I have heard really good things about them.

Take care, Cathy

Thank you for your comments. Yes I went through Cardiac rehab and it helped. Unfortunately I am not really able to exercise now, I work and when I'm done I have no energy left for anything. Unfortunately my family is suffering as well, I am not partcularily into eating and don't have much energy to make it either. I am aware of all the things that contain sodium, salt and whatever names you want to give it. Part of rehab was learing foods and good alternates.

Vertigo

I have suffered from Vertigo all my life and it wasn't until after my PM and still getting that feeling that I was told that a Dr. could help me. I went to see a Ears, Nose and Throat Specialist and three times a week, I would stand on a type of balance ball, and watch a computer screen and balance myself to follow the blip on the screen around. As time went on, I moved up to faster and longer times on the balance ball, then 2 days a week then 1 day, and in total about 8 weeks. I felt I was cured for the first time in my life, I could actually ride the elevator up to my apartment and not feel like I was going to hit the wall or throw up. I actually could drive in a car with someone else driving without feeling ill. However, that was about a year ago, and I am since then experiencing it again. Don't know if has to do with the vertigo again, but I don't like the feeling, especially after finally not having it for so long. Good luck with yours.

I am just grateful to God that I lived long enough to have my ICD put in. So many people are not as lucky as us; even though we sometimes don't feel lucky.
