TREASURES

Happy New Year to each and every one of our Pacemaker family. I wish you all improved health and happiness wherever you can find it. As an old girl who went through her entire childnood without a family to call her own this family means a great deal to me. You are among my greatest treasures.

I'm not usually the chattiest of people (until I get going I guess) lol but I would like to share a story with you. I have been a member since just before my PM implant three and a half years ago. I was not a very active member for the first almost three years because I felt like death was just a few steps behind me and I was on the run - so to speak. Even though my family doctor insisted on seeing me every other week and my cardiologist every month it didn't twig on either of them that I was being over medicated with a combination of Rythmol (900 mg daily) and Digoxin. I was in too big a fog to think period. Last spring my cardiologist agreed to withdraw both drugs and see how my a-fib. would react to Flecainide only. Within a few short weeks I felt like I came out of a dense forrest. My mind cleared...I was able to think and reason clearly, I had my energy back, I wasn't constantly exhausted and I was able to feel all the motions that I felt so very long ago and do so much more.

This is my New Years gift to those of you who are having those symptoms. Keep pushing your doctor to try new medications until you find one that relieves your symptoms and helps you to live again. It seems that the newest drugs may not be your answer, as for me, so don't be afraid to try some of the older ones.

I tell this story because I want so much for those who are having difficulties with medications and with extreme fatigue to give it another try. With all my heart I hope you can experience life again the way I am able to now.

Also I want to thank those of you who responded to our sock drive for the homeless with your notes of encouragement and most of all with passing it on in your own communities. You are a wonderful group of people. My cup runneth over.

Happy New Year !!!!!

The experience of having a couple of lengths of wire fed into your heart muscle and an electronic 'box' tucked under the skin is not an insignificant event, but you will survive.
