Coronavirus and a psychological test.

Most of us, including myself, are asking  questions about the coronavirus. It is normal to be worried as corona is a real danger for most of us. But we should not let it control our lives. Maybe some of you already know, but still here goes the story

As a test, they put 2 identical sheep (same age, weight, health etc) into 2 identical cages. The living conditions are the same and both sheep are fed with the same food etc.

Here is the twist. There is an other cage in the room, with a wolf in it. However, only 1 of the sheep is able to see the wolf, while the other has no view

Guess what happens. Although the wolf has no way harming both sheep, the sheep with a view of the wolf stops eating/drinking and dies, as its constantly in stress and worried. While the other sheep with no view continues to live its normal healthy life

Corona is a real danger. Lets take extra extra precautions as best we can, but lets stop overthinking, worrying too much, panicking etc as these will cause more harm then good physically and mentally

Whatever is going to happen will happen. Lets try our best to get through this, be positive, pray, and also continue to live and share our lives to the fullest

I wish all of you the best. Be positive, we all live once

Coronavirus is the least of people's problems in the US

by IAN MC - 2020-04-07 05:53:03

I believe that you live in Eastern Europe , Benjijohn , but I see that  in the USA more than 2 million guns were sold in March.

The side-effect is a shooting pain in your chest when you try to breath . Their pacemakers won't save them.

I imagine that here in the UK the sales of tea will increase .. it is much safer here.

Psychological test

Best words yet.

As far as politics goes, and I didn't start this, I'd rather be able to protect myself than have someone who isn't here do it. Fact: more guns = less violence.

Corona Virus

by Selwyn - 2020-04-07 08:50:36

Talking about wolves and sheep... This virus is a wolf in sheep's clothing.

Today, in the UK we have had 5373 deaths with the corona virus. I say with, as there is some debate as to whether some of these very ill people that died, would have died in the near future  without the virus, and catching the virus has merely kicked them over the edge.

Pray gives hope.  You will need more than hope to avoid having a dose of this infection!  The fact that our Prime Minister is now in intensive care on oxygen should demonstrate to the world that this virus can infect anyone whom is daft enough to not keep themselves social distanced or shielded ( =locked away) and keep to the hygiene rules.

The  test for viral detection within people is less than perfect. Many cases are asymptomatic ( as are all initial or pending cases).  I used to have a cartoon, on my wall at university,  of an exploding head with a bullet coming out of the other side, the caption reading, " War makes the anatomy you learn in medical school irrelevant!".

The thought that there has been 2 million guns sold in March in the USA shows that people are being positive - positively naive. The real enemy is the wolf in sheep's clothing. The death rate in the USA today is said to be 9.56K. This is a war, where each of us has a role to   keep ourselves and others well. If only all that money spend on guns were available for health care -The cost of US gun violence has finally been calculated—at $2.8 billion a year.

And, yes, Ian, I will continue to drink the decaffeinated tea, indoors. Much safer for the arrhythmia!

Guns

by Bearkat419 - 2020-04-07 10:58:39

I'm not sure what people buying guns has to do with govt spending on healthcare but its a national pasttime here - in times of crisis, arm yourself to the teeth.  It makes more sense than the toilet paper at least.

If it makes anyone feel better, ai survived the stupid virus.  It got iffy for a second, and it ended ip being the straw that broke the camels back with my heart and brought me here, but... I made it.  And wasnt even on a ventilator, go me.

Great Message

by doublehorn48 - 2020-04-07 13:06:38

Great post by BENJIJOHN.  Really good message.  IAN MC, as usual, makes a lot of sense.  I'm older than most, born and raised in Texas, had guns around  from an early age.  I'm buying toilet paper.  Be careful with those guns over toiler paper, you might shoot yourself in the foot.

Toilet paper

by AgentX86 - 2020-04-07 21:49:49

I was reading an article about this the other night (sorry, don't remember where) where they were saying that the problem isn't so much hoarders as supply chain.  With everyone at home, the demand for retail toilet paper is about 60% higher than normal, which puts a huge strain on the supply chain.  Of course the demand for industrial toilet paper has gone down but as anyone who has used a toilet at work, knows isn't the same stuff and in fact is made in different mills by (mostly) different companies. One supply can't make up for the shorfall in the other.  If, however, you want to buy sandpaper for your bathroom, you might get a good deal.

Wolves, and viruses, and immune systems

by Gotrhythm - 2020-04-08 18:30:12

Your sheep/wolf story has an apocryfal ring to it, but the negative effects of stress on the immune system are real and have been well-documented.

It behooves us all to do all we can to support our immune systems. In my case that means strictly limiting the amount of news I watch. I guess I'm ttrying to find a balance between staying informed and being the sheep that's staring at the wolf all the time.

Mental Health Provider Freaking

by Yakkwak - 2020-04-13 00:12:08

Am a provider with a PM. Easier to assist others than self. Just remembered a couple of days ago when I rec'd my home monitor (although on 2nd PM), that I'm due for a battery replacement in about 6 weeks. Am really hoping that it wont be considered "elective surgery" then.  Don't laugh; it's possible. I got a CSF leak after a spinal injection before the major wave of COVID-19 hit in the south US and they cancelled my blood patch (that is supposed to fix it) because it was "elective surgery".  Still leaking and have had a migraine-like headache for weeks now..... I read that it is dangerous.  So no telling what they will do when my battery starts beeping.

You know you're wired when...

Airport security welcomes you.
