new Mcira pacemaker which is placed in the heart

I had a pacemaker placed in Dec. 2018.....everything was going fine. Recovery was going good except my pacemaker moved and continued to move until now it is bumping the muscle and hurts all the time. It way close to being under my arm but can't get there cause as I said the muscle is there and it can't go but it wants to move more.

Saw my Dr. yesterday and he has presented me with the opportunity of getting the new Micra by Medtronic that is being used now. Yes it is new and I am reaching out to see if anyone has had a placement.

It is a bit scary to me to have a device placed right in the heart. They place thru the vain in the groan right into your heart and it sits there till it is needed. I ilke my Dr. very much. He feels this may a good choice for me as putting a new pacemaker in under the collerbone again, there will be no quarantee it will not move again.

The other choice is to leave this one where it is however the problem with that it is painful where it is, while I can stand pain I have alot of pain in my body and don't need any more to cope with. this new device sounds interesting and I am inclined to go with it but wish I could find some of you out there that might have had this placed in your heart.

Thank you for any reponses,

Micra

I'm assuming you are talking about the Micra that is out now for single chamber ventricular pacing. They are releasing a new Micra AV late this year that works for AV block because it sensed the atrial beat and keeps it in sync with the ventricle. The only catch with this device is that they don't know if they can remove them and you can have up to 3 in your heart. So that would mean 30 years roughly if the arrest lasts 10 years apiece. They need to find a way to anchor them and then a way to leave the anchor and place a new unit on the same anchor. That way the units can be removed and a new one can be placed. Just my 2 cents.

Micra Pacemaker placed in heart

Thank you so much for your input. I have been doing alot of reading on this subject and while some souds really good other post problems may be toooo much for me to handle. You make a good point re removal if need be....so then your heart becomes a junk yard as it were.

I am feeling that I need more information before I make a decision for this device. I know the one I have and may just stay with it and just have the repoisition and if it moves again I will just have it repositioned again. It seems go with what you know.

I have other medical issues and this one has just added another layer of pain in my body and I thinking that I can not cope with the worry about something new and inside my heart.

Thank you again for your post really appreciate it. Your 2 cents is worth more!!!

new Micra

Thanks so much for your input....I do appreciate your comments. I just think it is toooo new for me to try and a bit to old (83) to be playing around with something that I feel still has a way to go before it is clear as to how they are going to handle a mal function. With the current placemaker they can easily be replaced but this new thing placed right in your heart...gives me pause.

I feel however it is a bit to soon to for me to start into something new in my body. I have so much poain and the idea of in my heart as I said a bit scary.

Thanks again for your comments....so helpful

It is just over 10 years since a dual lead device was implanted for complete heart block. It has worked perfectly and I have traveled well near two million miles internationally since then.
