Am having a Dual Chamber Boston PM replace next week for weak battery

Having My PM replaced next week. Dual Lead Boston PM. Initial Implant date 10/2012, implanted due to Bracacardia. HB dropped to 20BPM.

Today I am 70 Years old, currently 100% paced, set at 60 BPM. Here is my question.

I currently have few if any complaints after 7-8 years. I hope when the unit is replaced things remain the same.

Any thing in Particular i should watch out for and\or ask my PM Doctor for before the surgery.

Thanks Flippo

Congratulations on your new pacemaker!

Everything should go tickety boo and you'll be sore for a couple of days as you know.

I have been 100% paced for 11 years, its great what they can do these days.

Maybe keep a pen and paper nearby, incase you think of any questions.

Seeing as you're a happy pacer now, I dont see it changing with a newer model.

Best Wishes,

Replacements are super easy! Only thing I would verify is that your leads are in good shape and they are only switching out the box. If you are feeling good now, they will likely set the new one to the same settings as the old one and you shouldn't feel a difference.

Your new one will probably come with a home monitor, or maybe even a phone app, depending on which one you get. Pretty cool. I was resistant at first but it's great. I have it wrapped in a towel under the bed so I don't have to look at it. It does its thing automatically every 3 months so now I only go in once a year. If something is going on, we can push a button to send a download rather than going in to the office.

no problem

I am on number five they just keep the settings the same, it feels the same from one to the next.  after 30 years of being paced I did have a weird thing on the latest device, but a holter for a day and the doc examined that and a small adjustment, done.  assume that wont happen, you are fine with your current settings, even changing brands it should just work the same and feel the same.

You know you're wired when...
