Travel insurance

I wondered if any fellow pacemaker recipients could recommend any travel cover companies?  I know there are some pre existing condition policies out there....would be good to find a fair deal for a declared condition.

Hi Terry.

Are you asking about medical insurance while traveling abroad or trip cancellation insurance? Either way, I’ve never been asked questions about my medical conditions.

Let me know what you learn.

TRAVEL INSURANCE

There are quite a few travel insurance companies in UK that cover existing medical conditions-best to look online. My husband and I recently used Insure and Go to travel to America for 17 days(expensive but at least you know you got good cover). Our previous company would not insure us to go to America (we had used them lots for Europe).Unfortunately a few years back we were unable to travel because his leads were fractured and needed immediate replacement 2 weeks before we were due -the insurance company paid out the full amount of the holiday for him but I had separate travel insurance and my company would not pay a penny so now we always make sure we take a joint policy in case we need to make a claim.Hope you get a fair quote

Terry, I see you are in the UK. We   have very good travel insurance included with our NatWest Reward Black card. I have to pay a supplement, around £50,  as far as I remember,   because I am over £70.

When  I was given my Pacemaker I expected that they would want a hugely increased supplement  but they only wanted another £32. This provides worldwide cover including cruises and winter sports. Considering I also have asthma,  Diabetes Type 2 and high blood pressure, I think it is a bargain. Obviously you have to have the account with Natwest. A bonus is free use of airport lounges.

It might be worth your having a look at this,

Consider Staysure

Hi Terry: we use Staysure.  So far we haven't had to claim, their telephone service for setting up and amending policies is good (make sure that if you are not the policy organiser you are permitted to make amendments to the policy).

We've been through Atrial Flutter/Apixaban/Ablation etc. and now PM and they have been reasonable.

Thanks for the replies all,  I travel regularly to Thailand, sometimes for up to 4 months.  They have expat insurance there which is expensive.  Staysure is one i will research, thanks for that pointer.
